So just received my ETS Street Intercooler. Dumb me didn't think about needing the crashbeam for this install as the ETS instructions say to mount it it to the crashbeam with self taping screws. I no longer have my crash beam since I removed it for weight savings. So I guess I am just looking for a few ideas or to see how others that have removed there crash beam have mounted theirs. I don't have access to a welder or anything so I feel like that limits me a little on what I can do. Thank you again.

Looks like what i did i had to cut to make my fmic fit i have a larger one now grab a cutting tool and have at it. nice pic lawrence.

I have seen both of those the ETS instructions say to use self tapping screws and mount it into the bumper support/crash beam which I have gotten rid of. The other topic you linked to does help and I looked at before but I am looking for other ideas I guess. Thank you though for the post.

I no longer have this part. I scrapped it for weight savings.

If you check out my profile I have a couple of pictures of how I mounted my intercooler without using self tapping screws. I used two 90* angle brackets, seat brackets that I cut, to mount my intercooler.

this was the second time I installed this intercooler, the first time I used the ETS method of self tapping screws and attaching the intercooler ot the crash beam, bad idea I must say. It bends the mounting tabs and also the intercooler sits below the bumper cover. With my method the bumper covers the intercooler (third picture.)

Ah I actually saw that earlier when I was looking you used some seat brackets you had laying around right? What you did is what I would like to do how thick are the brackets you used? Is it pretty secure?

These are the brackets I used. I had them left over from a project:
Summit Racing® Universal Fixed Seat Brackets SUM-G1151 - SummitRacing.com

Get some proper hardware, thick enough bolts with flat and spring washers.
I have been driving my dsm like this for 4 years, every season. Its still on, well not technically, cars is pieces being rebuilt.:thumb:

Who in there right mind removes a crash beam? Are you an idiot? Remove crash beam-because race car is not an acceptable answer! On a side note you could hit up Home Depot for some brackets. If you can't figure out something and need a crash beam just send me or Adam a text I'm sure we got one we can give you when your back in town.

Haha I'm planning on running the JMF bumper support and I had removed the crash beam because the intercooler I had before the ETS wouldn't clear it LOL. I think i may be going back to using that intercooler because after looking and thinking last night I think I have an idea.
