Ok, I am buying an upgraded wheel and housing for the H1c, my choices are down to either the 58mm 8 blade (all my choices are 8 blade BTW) or the 60mm 8 blade (i really thought about a 56mm but they are out of stock with no date on expecting a new batch)

I've read the 58mm flows about like the 60-1, and not sure what teh 60mm unit flows, but mated to an hx34/h1c turbine in a .63ar t3 housing i'm looking for he fastest spool and the best possibility of making ~525whp +/- 15-20hp but over 500 to the wheels and prefferably at under 31psi

I just don't know how much the extra 2mm's on the 60 will slow spool down and early spool is important to me and one of the main things i'm looking for in this build

Also, the housings i'm able to get have the MWE grooves which hurt spool, but i'm hoping i can get the silencer ring with it, if not does anyone have one i can get laying around???

After driving on the 57 trim today i'm regrettig givign up the PTE67mm unit but i know the holset is what i'm really after and it came in the deal it just needs built so i can run it and this is the last part besides the oil feed and drain which i'm wrking on currently

Anyway.. All i have for choices in wheel/housing combos are ALL 8 blade units, with MWE grooves that are actually functional, my choices that are in stock and ready to ship are the 58mm, and 60mm .. How much difference in spool up would i be looking at for the extra 2mm on the 60mm wheel and what kinda airflow would i gain for it

It sounds like you're most concerned with spool.

I'd say go with the 58mm. The flow for 500awhp should certainly be there. According to a wiseman who's not been very active lately, it's significantly lighter than the 60mm. There is also speculation that the 60mm isn't even a real Holset compressor.

Why are all your choices 8 blade?

thanks that's the type of info i was looking for, they are all 8 blade because they are all actuall holset made wheels specifically for the h1c in the many configurations it came in for different apps from tgractors to trucks and generators, they have them for hx series that are all 7 blade and so forth.

think im gettin the 58mm too, the flow is said to be the same as the 60-1 (60lb/min) so that should net me at least 525 wheel horse power

I'm still getting some mid-range surge fro,m the 57 trim, but no where near what is was before the cam degreeing..although during some idloe tuning i fouled out a plug last night and today during WOT pulls i'm getting a lot of blow out so i need plugs ASAP now i guess

I knew the surge line moved to the right ao good bit in the BB CHRA, but man i didn't think it would be htis bad!, I have a 50 trim I could scavenge the wheel and hosuing from to swap onto it in the meaing the elb on time but I don't feel like pulling the DP, intake and weld a 90* elbow on the housing. I think i'll just wait until i can get the h1c upgraded, put the elbow on that and hope to hell that the housing I machined from the garrett to fit the h1c turbine gives me the type of spool i'm looking for. I ca n't use either bolt on housing because the garrett one is 4 bolt and with my manifold anything other than a 4 bolt hits the block at the b alance shaft hump and i don't want to swap to a mitsu housing because i'd have to port my old 2g m,anifold, cut it open and weld a tial wastegate flange to it or build a build a nice 02 housing, cause there's no way i'd be spending 300+ on one when i have everything here to build one for a lot less money, i just can't spare the time since i'm actually verry busy with custom fab work. (doing a supercharger install on an SRT8 jeep next week and still have an 07 wrx clutch to install between then and now)

Before i made a final decision, i would contact holset and get the weight of each wheel. If there is more than, say 8-10 grams, it will make a major dif in spool. If the weight just so happens to be the same, spool will not change much. Also find out what airflow capabilities they claim for the 60mm wheel.

Already picked, weight, total airfow although in grams per some odd measurement, and the measurement of the middlehub diameter lead me to get the 58mm, and just like the hx40 8 blade 58mm OEM wheel this one flows a supposed (according to his conversion 62lb/mn) and the 60mm wheel was able to flow about 70lb/mn but they are just figures i was told, but i've been talking to the same guy at this place for a while and even thugh i put the wrong part in the "basket" they called back and made sure that it was an accident because he was aware of my goals and remembered the conversations we'd had, so i felt good in trusting him on the choice of the 58mm. (i basiclaly said i wanna be over 500, nrever will need to make over 600 and want the fastest spool i can get and this is the wheel i got on it's way) :D

This is the one i have on it's way, the only sad part is there's not silencer ring included so i either need to machine one and a way to fasten it in or get one from a dodge guy and adapt the fastening system to the housing. I have to say they really went the extra mile for me too, because once i picked what wanted although it showed in stock on the web, the guy (Steve) checked and it was not available, so he calls me back about a half hour later and tells me he pulled one off a brand new turbo (so i might get the slencer ring taking that into account but i didn't ask)

Great place to do business with and gained a lot of info about holsets that was either missing here or is mis-information going around the web as far as what fits what and what is different and what isn't on whee;s, turbines and shafts etc..etc.. Also learned a little about the cm^2 style a/r readings

I can't remember the weights of each wheel at the moment, it's scribbled on a piece of paper here on my desk some where but i'm barely awake at he moment, i'll find it here later today. And yea finding a decent sales-person these days is a PITA, but i guess actually i didn't find a decent salesman, I was talking with one of the tech's to be honest LOL, but the sales lady i spoke with at first couldn't answer anything technical so that's how i got in touch with steve from the tech side

delta, I thought i put a link up there a few posts back but i guess i forgot it LOL, it's gillett-diesel (pronounced gillette like the razor just with no 'e' on the end of it) The prices have went up on them from what i found the guys on the cummins forums have paid in the past (or they had a forum discount i didn't get) but comparet to HTTurbo who wants 400 bucks for the same thing, i didn't mind paying the 275 they were asking, the shipping is where they killed me though, but honestly i can understand it to a point becuase people never seem to think of the hours/materials and general expenses of packaging something, driving it to the post office in personal sales cases anyway, and things like paying the employees who' job it is to pull orders and get them ready and shipped.. But 30 bucks for priority mail USPS is about double of what the flat rate box it should come in would cost to ship..

But really, I was past cut off time for USPS shipping (was told 4 pm cut-off but that was for UPS shipping) but steve the tech i spoke with went out of his way to personally drop the package into a postal box on his way home after work.. As some one who use to have a couple of guys on payroll a few years back i can say he's one that they should be thankfull to have for as far out of his way that he wilingly went without me even asking him to in order to make the company a sale when i'm sure they sell a lot larger orders that generate more revenue than my measely little compressor wheel and cover order. Great people and a great place to buy IMO, anything i need that they might stock in the future will definitely come from them
