Hey DSM'ers i been search for a turbo kit to upgrade my 95 GST, I'm running a 16G setup and i came across this cxracing GT35R kit for a 89-94, i have the 6 bolt bottom end and 2G head so do you guys think that would work for me im balling on a budget :thumb:

I think the turbo will fail almost immediately if you turn the boost up. CX Racing= Chinese trash.

Save for a proper turbo, if you're on a budget you definitely don't want to buy 2 turbos.

I would stay clear save the money! You will never see these guys out at a shoot out running that kit and keeping up with any of the supporting vendors. Ebay attracts people with prices but most of the stuff is junk. Ive wasted plenty of money learning this lesson. What are your goals what mods do you have now?

Only mods are the 16g turbo, 650 fic, DSM link, I am looking to upgrade my turbo and change out a few other things on the engine. Any suggestions on what I can do to get a little more power out of the car?

Hey guy i'm running a 16G set up and want to upgrade to something with an external waste gate so i found a ram horn looking manifold by OBX item #11-2002-195 T3 that will fit the head, so my question is what turbo and down pipe would be best used for what i'm trying to do , I've searched the classified but no one is selling the entire kit i don't want to buy in pieces and not know if it's going to work or not, and another question is will the GT35R turbo fit that manifold that i have my 16g on it's a tubular manifold that came with car

I would upgrade your fuel pump first, even with 650's and a 16g you will over run the stock pump quickly. Also if you don't have one, get a wideband, 3" exhaust, downpipe etc. Why not get all proper supporting mods, buy a manual boost controller and max out that 16G first? I'm willing to bet that with all supporting mods you will get alot more out of it than what your getting.

OBX quality is on par with that of the CX junk you asked about in your other thread.

Supporting mods first...you have next to none.

When i say 16g set up i have the down pipe, i do have walbro fuel pump, 650cc, DSMlink 3 inch exhaust i make a little over 300 horse power on a good tune so think i have most of the supporting mods just looking to upgrade for more power with a different set up, I also have greddy e01 boost controller, sorry i forgot to mention above.

I run the OBX ram horn mani, I love it:hellyeah:

So what turbo are you running ?

I've also known a few people running the OBX ram horn with success. FWIW you have a good 100+hp left on the table with the 16g. (assuming your actually making 300whp.) How much boost are you running?

I was surprised how quick my car went on an e316g. I run a factory full weight 1G with all options/accessories plus a good 50lbs of speaker BS and my 220lb fatness. My car trapped 119 with a 16g. That's well over 400whp. You've already got a good start. Buy some large injectors and switch over to e85 if it's available. Meth injection if it's not. I was able to run identical boost with meth injection as I did with e85. I've been thinking of switching back over actually. E85 fuel systems get expensive quick when you start making big power. I was maxing out my 1000's with the e316g.

I'd go with the t3 9cm HY35 holsets and OBX ram horn. Not positive on the fitment. Not sure if anyone has done that combo before. I run an OBX manifold as well. I have already had one crack within a few hundred miles. I've repaired this and haven't had another since. (1200 miles now) I believe the ram horns are a bit more durable though.

+2000000000 CX racing is JUNK!!!!!!!!!! the only decent stuff iu've found on ebay is from "just intercoolers" and that's their aluminum piping for making intercooler kits from scratch, their t-bolts are ok too but their silicone couplers are thin and will last if not heated and boosted too high

other than that avoid ebay like the plague whenit comes to buying so called "new" off brand/name brand hi-perf parts

I know a local guy with a gvr4 that has been runing a gt35r from cx racing..he has been runing it for 2yrs from anywhere from 14psi to 30psi, he has no wg so is throttle controlled boost

i dont get why people buy brand new cheap china turbos when for that same price you can get a used genuine one

I've used CXracings piping and couplers quite a bit. The piping is actually very nice for the price. 2 mm thick with nice rolled beads as well. Also seen a few locals use the rad/fan setups with good luck. Personally I'd stay away from the turbos... GM hightech just did an article on a factory LS 5.3 motor and a twin turbo CX racing kit. Made some healthy numbers on low boost. Although the longevity isn't exactly being tested on quick dyno blasts. Another junkyard ls motor (4.8 this time) made over 1200 hp on two cx racing turbos. I'm not standing up for the company or the turbos. (run an HX40 myself) But the numbers are in black and white.

Thank you guys for pointing me in the right direction, when it comes to turbo it's still a new thing for me. So turbo's like the HX35 and HX40 how do i choose a manifold and down pipe WTF
