I don't know if I should put this in the Bolt On section or Turbo section, so I apologize if its in the wrong subforum.

My HX35 came in today and I'm wondering if anyone has any tip on how to fab up an o2 housing or if I should just cut the flange off my downpipe and weld pipe on to it to connect it to the turbo. I'm keeping the factory hx35 turbine housing and am going to be running the JMF twin scroll bottom mount manifold. If everything fits, I will keep my alternator in front, if not I'll relocate it to the back of the block.

Inside diameter of the holset elbow is roughly 2.75" and my downpipe is 3" literally stuffed into a 2.5" flange. Thanks

I would recommend cutting off the pipe attached to the flange and then welding a mandrel bent pipe in place.

Could anyone shed some light on welding stainless or mild steel to cast iron? That would be my only concern.

What flange did Mr. Peepers use? I see the thread, but it doesn't say much about it specificaly.

That linked flange appears to be the same flange used in the ebay 5 bolt o2 housing that is on ebay and Justmx said it wouldn't fit. He said it was for a garret 5 bolt. Here's the link on that http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/366290-will-o2-housing-work-my-hx35.html

This is what I have done so far, I will probably call around and see if I can get 2.5" I.D. mandrel bent pipe welded to the factory flange, then put a 2 bolt flange on the other side of the pipe to connect to my downpipe.

Well I found a flange. Mandrel bends.com only had the flange with a hole in it for the wastegate. So I emailed them and asked if I could get it without the wastegate hole, they replied it would be a $10 customization fee. Well that was last week, I just checked today and they now have the flange listed with and without the wastegate hole. Heres the link Holset HX35 Turbo Outlet Flange, WG Blocked, 3/8", Mild Steel Columbia River Mandrel Bending

Thats what I used, It worked great. For $14 you can't go wrong.
