Not necessarily dream turbo, but I have a 6blade Hx-40. I'll probably be putting it on next year in bolt-on housing. I would like to team it up with a 2.3 stroker and run in the 35-40psi range. Then i would upgrade to full t3 with a nice tubular header and AR70 housing. I guess I would throw 600whp as a target goal?

I guess dream would be a gt42r 1,000whp+ :D

you left out a couple.
The new superbada$$ pte turbos.
6262
6265
6765

I would say either the 6265 or the GT42-76 with the cnc'd compressor wheel.
I already have the GT42-76 just no cnc'd wheel or aluminum backplate.

Dream turbo? One that meets the airflow requirements to generate the horsepower I desire, while remaining as quick-spooling, inexpensive to maintain, and reliable as possible. Right now that appears to be a Holset HX40.

I'm not picky toward brand or type, but whatever I run in the future will not be a journal-bearing Garrett.

I would love a PTE 6262BB they are the new bad ass turbos. I would love one on a 2.3 storker.

Holset is my Dream turbo for the street/ strip. Its gt35r power and performance with 16g budgets in mind with spool up of an MHI series turbo. (on the right set up). 2.3l and holsets are a beast. higher compresion 2.0 with the right stuff can make just as much power just afw hundred rpm later.
I guess if I ever go all out drag racing it would have to be the legendary gt42R and just antilag all day everyday.

hta 3582 or pte 6262...if you've ever driven/ridden in a car equipped with one of these youll know why!

2.3 stroker hta 3582 powered car made 423whp @ 18psi on 91 octane..... yea

I wouldnt say they spool just like MHI turbos because some MHI 20g's spool like dogs. But comparing to other turbos with the same airflow rating they spool faster.

I didn't see my all time fav, but I would never put one on my DSM....I LOVE the T-51R. Awesome snail if you have the means/engine to support it.

Yea let me reword that. for 52lb/min out of a holset 35 you can't beat it. It will really depend on the 20g and the supporting mods wether its a dog or something to be proud of. But that also goes for any turbo.

We certainly can't put a g42r on a geo metro and expect it to spool... There isn't enough nitrous in the world. haha

I have been convinced the BW s256 E/T is absolutly awesome. I used to want the hx35 but a lot of people are using it and now I'm hooked on BW.

All these turbos are too small.. where are the Borg & Warner S400 options.. chop chop.

HTA76 on my 2.0L GS-T, RED on my Evo.

I think ~400-500whp is all I'll ever want in my streetcars, plus the added ease of using a DSM mani or stock frame turbo for my Evo keeps things clean and simple. With my DSM I don't care about the fastest spooling turbo so the HTA may be too good for my needs, all I want is top end power for my highway star. For the Evo, I want things to be quick and brutal, so a red with an eventual 2.2/2.3L build will be my huckleberry.

idk what my dream turbo would be. i guess that depends on the motor LOL

right now im giving hte HX35 a shot, should be installed next weekend!!

sorry guys , im unable to edit the poll :)
PTE 62 series seems very nice ,
i forgot to add the S400 series too

The current one on the car is a Borg Warner S400Sx 74mm (S374 or 475, etc.), with a 1.1A/R Divided T4 turbine housing being run on an aluminum rod 7-bolt 2.3L Stroker.

I also upgraded the compressor cover to a Bullseye Performance RACE cover that is substantially larger than the standard GT42R compressor cover.

The specs are:
Compressor inducer 74.2mm
Compressor exducer 102.5mm
Extended Tip O.D. 105.5mm
Turbine inducer 83.7mm
Turbine Exducer 74.3mm
Compressor cover inlet: 5.61" (5.5" coupler fits)
Compressor cover outlet: 3.0" Hose style
Turbine outlet: 4.0" V-Band

If I get really greedy, I will "upgrade" to a S480 for a bit more power, but that may be a bit too much power....

Here are a couple pics of my turbo next to the standard GT42 compressor cover for size comparison:

My dream turbo for a crazy street setup would be either an off-the-shelf GT4088R with a 0.96A/R divided T4 housing (my old setup), or a TiAL custom GT4202R in a GT4088R body. It utilizes a GT4088 compressor cover that is machined out to fit a GT4202 compressor wheel and then they CNC their own anti-surge inlet that gets bolted into the compressor cover. The center section is straight GT42R, as well as the turbine wheel. I would also run it on a TiAL 1.0 A/R stainless steel turbine housing with a V-Band tubular manifold. That would be AWESOME! The GT42R variant was originally produced by TiAL for a customer with a Dodge Viper that twin-turbo'ed it and couldn't fit the GT42R compressor cover in the space available, so they retrofitted the GT40 compressor cover to fit, and the viper was able to produce ~1800WHP on a moderately low boost level with a crazy powerband. Using the TiAL cover and housing saves at least 20-25 pounds off the weight of the turbo. Cost? Around $2200 or so from TiAL. Both turbos mentioned can put down some serious power with the 4088R doing well over 700-800AWHP with excellent spoolup characteristics, and the GT42R variant would easily do 850-900AWHP with the TiAL cover.

My buddy just put a 6262 on his 2.3 Evo IX, he loves it. Its good for 8s in a street car, so why not LOL.

Just because one guy with an unlimited budget and a car shop did it.. don't take it for fact. Think of it as a high 9/ low 10s turbo.

Agree 100%, results will vary and I bet it won't be better. As I recall he is running upwards of 52psi to produce those ET's/HP.
