Intercooler Routing

I've got my FMIC temporarily rigged from over the winter, but this is the most ghetto thing I've ever done to my 1g (see pic). 2.5" piping for reference

I'm trying to figure out how to actually use my J pipe. (don't laugh at me!!!!)

First, I'm fine with my passenger side route (I just bored out the stock hole for the sidemount with a 2 3/4 circular saw so my 2.5" would fit through it.

The big problem is what the hell to do with the hot pipe. First and foremost measuring from under the car there's no way I can fit a 2.5" pipe between my fans/alternator and the stupid roll mount on the front of the frame really makes this J pipe thing hard.

How are you guys routing the hot side pipe from the compressor to the intercooler? Pics would be fantastic. I don't have a problem trimming some of the support to make it fit.

Short route setups have the pipe going out to the driver's side, then coming through the rad support. Most require at least 1 slim fan.

Is that what you're asking?

I'm not apposed to cutting and welding.

With the setup I have above how would you route?

This would make the most sense if you weren't trying to cut the UICP:

That's not really hurting performance, it's been shown that short route vs. long route makes no noticeable difference. If it's stressing you out because you think it looks bad, run the hot pipe though the D shaped port on the side of the radiator.

I think if you chopped the legs off that 180 then used a 90 straight off of it it would point the tube into sheet metal you could cut, then another 90 right out of there to keep it closer to the rad to aim it to the J pipe outlet.

I got away with a 90 straight off the IC inlet, but it looks like yours is a bit too long for any 90 I've ever seen. Maybe if you moved the core over an inch or two you could get your 90 coupler directly on the IC.

My long route hotpipe comes through the pass side right under intake piple and then pretty much follows the same as yours across the intercooler. Mine is a used SSAC kit i picked up with mile long piping but it still spools fast.
I dont have any pics but search for some installed ones.

Cut down on that route man. Re-do the piping to go around the frame on the driver's side. It'll help with spool time.

When i did mine i was not trying to loose my crash beam so i cut down my long route piping an made a short route out of it.EASY

Spool time sucks for me because of my cams.

What pisses me off about the setup is it doesnt fit well with my bumper

i'm not worried about spool time.

Just for the record before I changed to 272 cams with a fully ported head, my spool time was almost the exact same with that route vs. the sidemount.

Shorter piping just cleans things up pretty much and IMO is much nicer and more professional-looking.
