60-1 with stage 5 turbine?
Does anyone have any experience with the stage5 turbine in the bolt on housing. I can get a good deal on either the stage3 or 5 wheel but if i go with the stage 5 wheel have to get a different turbine housing to put on it. I was set on the stage 3 wheel but now not sure. I know the fp red is a 60-1 with a td06h is the stage 3 smaller than the td06h?

The TD06H is larger in diameter than a T31, however the T31 is a bit wider. I'm not sure what that means in terms of flow efficiency, but I'd imagine a wider wheel would outflow a skinny wheel.

If I had the resources and option, I would get the Stage V (T350) wheel on that compressor (yes, you'd need a new turbine housing) I couldn't see any gains of going from a red to a standard 60-1.

I cannot cite any facts the stage vs stage iii except this, DO NOT purchase a Turbonetics 60-1. They have the worst CHRA rating and that my friend I can cite. My turbo shafts snapped while only pushing it to 22 psi.

Well that's an easy one. Remember the RS49T, G50, etc. days about 2 years ago? oh man..

Well I dont have an fp red just comparing the two. I can get a brand new 60-1 center section with the stage 3 wheel for 375. For 35 more I can get the stage 5 wheel but I would need a different turbine housing cause mine is for the stage3. BTW this is a garrett center section and wheels.

I'd opt for the larger wheel. PM sent about a housing.

Well.... I guess people will always remember in the back of their minds that AGP RS60 and RS49 designed their bolt-on housing like garbage w/ the Turbonetics core turbo sucked a$$.

I have turbos here with Stage 3, Stage 5, and TD06H turbines if you'd like me to take some photos with the housings off and post them.

Well, the scary part is some of these lack-luster CHRA's are still being produced and sold as new (I wont say which vendor, though). So, it's kind of the same epidemic in a different form. Anyway, OP, goodluck with your decision.

I agree with the stage 5 wheel. I was going to get a 60-1 pte turbo and I talked to someone about it. He said if I get one get the stage 5 wheel. He said it had a lot more top end and the spool difference was not even noticable.

I've had experience.. Stage V spools slower with more topend. Stage 3 spools faster with less top end.. Either way i hope this isn't a PTE turbo, which i bet it is since they are the only ones that really use the stage V 60-1. I hate precision turbo's, i've never had good luck..

Yeah the turbo is a garrett center section with garrett wheels and I will be using a PTE turbine section and Garett compressor cover. Thanks for the help guys. BTW think I would have full boost (30) around 5k or past that?

I highly doubt you'll be even close to full boost by 5k. And not to doubt you, 30 psi is pushing it for a DD but I don't you setup.

Not to be a dick bro but you have not said anything legit to this thread so please dont post anymore unless you have some usefull info. This car is not my dd and I run e85 and have my tuning under control. Now if someone has some actual experience with this turbo please chime in. I have some locals running scm6152 getting 30psi by 5k on his stock compression 6bolt with 272s.
