Blew off lower IC pipe...

Quick question, which I think I know the answer to but I couldnt find a thread to directly answer this question. I just installed a Evo 3 16g on my 2G talon. I just broke the turbo in and got on the throttle for the first time and noticed a stuttering like feeling in the car. Got on it again maybe thinking that the spark plugs were bad (as I had similar stuttering problems before), still stuttered. On the 3rd test I did MAYBE 75% throttle and I could hear the turbo spool all the way up and then a loud puff of air and all the other symptoms of blowing an i/c pipe off. I can reconnect the pipe however, my question is, does the "stuttering" feeling that I was experiencing somehow tie into the fact the i/c pipe blew off? Could the pipe in other words have been falling off which would cause the car to drive that way before finally blowing off?

My thought is that yes, the part of the pipe was probably leaking a significant amount air, enough to make the car run improperly under high throttle conditions where the engine is recieving more fuel but not enough air. Does that sound correct?
Thanks.

Chances are there was a leak prior to the pipe coming completely off. Make sure the piping on the inlet and outlet of the IC are secure.

Alright, but just to clarify, it does sound like a problem caused by a boost leak, not by something else?

Stuttering is usually ignition but I mean if the IC pipe blew off then fix it, do a boost leak test. DO ONE! find all the leaks! Then see what happens.

Boost leaks absolutely KILL the performance of the vehicle in every aspect. The cloud was from running pig rich. Consider fixing it correctly or you'll deal with it again. Just part of driving a modded boosted car.

Thanks for all the help guys. I appreciate the input. I figured it would just be a boost leak but I will know for sure next week once the intercooler kit is installed

Tbolts alone won't do shit on shiny or glossy pipes. You can actually tigthen a tbolt enough to crush the pipe, and still blow the hose off. Scuff up polished or powdercoated pipes. That usually does the job with a t-bolt clamp. If you still have trouble, try the hair spray. While the stiff works great, I usually save it until the last option, it can be a pain in the ass to get the hoses off later after you use it.
