Finally Tuned :)

Car was tuned today.. 356whp and 309wtq @ 22psi. Was seeing full manifold pressure by 5200rpm, and this was only turning to 7k. Meth kit was used, but only with the 'small' nozzle that came with the AEM kit.. (rated at 250-300hp i believe).

Tuning done using AEM EMS.

I will get pics and some info up tommorow. This was on a stock 6 bolt.

Your engine must be beat because that hp seems low.

compression and leakdown numbers are good, the engine uses no oil/coolant as well.

Im not really to concerned about the 'numbers', conservative tune on a low reading dyno.. Just a tuning tool

Spool seems really late, I would check for boost/exhaust leaks.

I will check for boost leaks, go over everything. Thanks .

Exhaust is tight however, also late spool i know, the turbo is very similar in size to a FP red, and im not seeing positive pressure until pretty late as well, i can check the boost vs rpm chart.

The numbers are okay in my book, although quite low for that compressor at that pressure ratio, you've got to think about the rest of the engine as well. Some people think that you can throw a 65 lb/min turbo on a stock motor and be able to push around 650 HP, well there's a lot more that goes into making the motor able to flow that air ( as i'm sure you know ) With that being said, i would say they are decently respectable for a stock 1g 6 bolt with tired ass valve springs, and just plain tired in general (even if it does check out okay on pressure tests, it's tired after this many years)

I DO think however that there's probably some smaller things like boost leaks or other little things that could be addresses to bring the power up a little and bring the spool time down a few hundred RPM...But seeing how you've got a P-trim turbine i would think you may have to go down to a smaller A/R hot side housing to gain some spool back.

Like i said, don't be too worried about those numbers, my car with a 57 trim and ~20psi (would spike 22 at first) did 332 and 312 ft/lbs on pump gas with the smallest nozzle in my meth kit as well. These numbers were on a mustang dyno which also reads low. Im also on a TIRED old 6 bolt as well with just some ARPs and an old set of 8:1 pistons that have valve dings in them . My good motor is pulled from the car right now to get the mains resized and to put in my H beam rods and as soon as I score a set of higher comp ratio pistons (want me some 9.5:1's baby!!!!!!)

Can you post up your chart or the data page from your pull? Also would like to see your timing map from the EMS if you don't mind, i've got the software if you would host it up so i could see what you're running ( i always like to see the timing others get away with so i can compare to my own or give some pointers anywhere) If you prefer to email it to me send it to turboglenn@msn.com

Well, i'm babbling..keep tweakin on it, you'll make more power

Thanks, i will scan my HP/TQ graph, as well as my AFR and Boost graph.

I will take screenshots of my timing maps as well and shoot them over to you, tell me what you think.

The tuner told me that some headwork would make a world of difference also, and yes your right, im sure my bottom end is pretty tired as well, but for my FIRST dsm setup, its great. I just have to learn how to drive it now.

Give me a few days to get the info up.

Eh. I'd say so as well. Local on a stock motor put down 370 awhp and has full boost before 4k.

Each setup is different tho. I think with a few more lbs the car would come alive.

With my 60-1, I didnt see power start to come around until 25 psi. It made right at 390whp at 20 psi but made 476whp at 25-26 psi. You are still under the efficiency range of your turbo.

im sure you didn't run the 115mph @ 476whp?

I agree with most of you, i *was* hoping for atleast 400. Its plenty of power for now, in a few months I will be back to see him with a built block/head, just have to get my transmission in now. The car made 311hp on 18psi, so i do believe that with 4-5 more psi it would have made a great difference and put me well into the 400whp area.

Then hopefully with race gas i will make 500+.

Well i have an update, the tuner let me do a 'dyno comparison' putting my car up on another local dynojet (my car was tuned on a dynapack).

He had been getting alot of feedback about low HP figures.

I made 397whp and 362wtq on a dynojet. This was on ~22psi, on 94 octane with the 'small' nozzle in my water/meth injection.

Im going to the track friday, although i wont beat on it too much since im still using a stock transmission, and a stock 3 bolt rear end. We will see what kind of trap times i see.

What you should have done is put a sticker on your window and then showed the Honda guys that you picked up 40 horses from that alone. And that it only works on a DSM!!

Nice numbers

God no. I did some shitty driving that night and my video listed on here proves it(video matches time slip). Tire smoke in 1st and second plus a 1.99 short time. This was done a long time ago before a lot of my mods.

I purposely dont list my current slip nor dyno sheets either so dont ask. Thats something that is private and I keep it to myself. My wife also knows and she doesnt tell anyone. She just tries to set up races at the friday night street car shootouts for me. She gets her friend's/coworkers boyfriends and husbands to bring out the mustangs, camaros, (insert your muscle car here) and then she collects from them on monday at work. Its funny to see how serious she is about it.

Ah, that's right, it was on an STC Silver Surfer turbocharger. Not bad.
