So I've had a weird issue lately where my car runs perfectly fine below ~10lbs of boost, but any higher, or if I build boost very quickly, my car bogs bad and backfires a bit. I was replacing a reducer to my smic outlet, because it was kinda crappy, and the coupler from my GMAF to my TB elbow popped off! I looked, and the mouth of my TB elbow is literally bent in at one point. So on the outside of it, it is dented in like a V.
What the hell? I'm positive this is the source of my boost leak now, and will do a full leak test shortly. I tried moving the coupler farther up on the elbow and clamping it off after the indentation, but I still get the same performance bog at high boost. I can only assume that the particular shape of the indentation is forcing air up and out.
I had my clamp on fairly tight, but geez I would have figured the teeth on the clamp would be weaker than the mouth of a steel UICP, but I guess not...
