So I've had a weird issue lately where my car runs perfectly fine below ~10lbs of boost, but any higher, or if I build boost very quickly, my car bogs bad and backfires a bit. I was replacing a reducer to my smic outlet, because it was kinda crappy, and the coupler from my GMAF to my TB elbow popped off! I looked, and the mouth of my TB elbow is literally bent in at one point. So on the outside of it, it is dented in like a V.

What the hell? I'm positive this is the source of my boost leak now, and will do a full leak test shortly. I tried moving the coupler farther up on the elbow and clamping it off after the indentation, but I still get the same performance bog at high boost. I can only assume that the particular shape of the indentation is forcing air up and out.

I had my clamp on fairly tight, but geez I would have figured the teeth on the clamp would be weaker than the mouth of a steel UICP, but I guess not...

Are you sure it's made of steel? I had a similar issue, although it sounds like your case is worse. By over tightening the T-bolts on my I/C piping I actually crushed the aluminum piping, but that was more from my carelessness than anything else. I didn't have any leaks, and IIRC I just popped out the dent with a metal punch or something like that I had lying around the garage. You might want to see if you can reform the piping.

That sucks dude. You must of had that clamp on tight! Yeah you should go with some SSAC parts for that. Much more reliable than that cheap Dejontool stuff......... wow that sounds backwards.... Sorry just a bad joke guys. I know I bought a upper IC pipe kit for like 60 bucks and it worked great. I even drilled a hole to tap 1/8 npt for my nitrous jet with no problem to the structural integrity of the elbow. I bet dejontool has a good refund policy.

Good luck

It's been a couple years since I originally bought my uicp kit, so it was out of warranty... But they did send me a new tb elbow for a reasonable price, and it was shipped very fast. This time around I also got silicone couplers and higher quality tbolt clamps, it should fit better which will keep me from having to tighten it as much.

I have two long (about 2 foot sections) of aluminum IC piping along with as many 2.5" tbolt clamps that you need. Just let me know.

FYI, you can take a screwdriver and round the whole back out.
