Ok, here's the setup, I blew my t-25 to shreds basically and while it was down, my brother found me a hx35 for free. So I take my hx35 and a t3 mani to my mechanic, (I'm automotively retarded still) and let him hook it up. Well after about 3 weeks he calls and tells me that it's not going to work. I then locate an awesome deal on a 50 trim with a manifold, external wastegate and o2 with it. I drive 2 hours (both ways) to pick this setup up the next day and get it to him thinking that it will solve the problem for the time being.
Well he says he's good with turbos and superchargers and tuning and stuff so he said it shouldn't take him long. About another week and a half passes and he gives me a call to pick up my car. I head to the shop and talk to him about how the install went and stuff and he tells me that it "lags terribly and he got it up to 20 psi (on stock injectors mind you) and then it wouldn't go up that high again.
I didn't think much of it (being that I'm a newb to turbos and stuff and I heard they lag pretty good without a good tune), and procede to the shop, trying to get on it a little bit and get SOME boost anyway. I get to the exhaust shop and find out why it really won't boost. This idiot hooked up the wastegate backwards (valve facing down where the dump tube would be?). Well i go ahead and get the exhaust fixed and decide I'm going to take it back to the guy who installed it.
I arrive at the shop and ask him about it and he tells me exactly this, "It should work either way, plus it wouldn't fit in there the right way". So I ask him what he's going to do about it and he says there's nothing he can do, and that's when I noticed he didn't give me a reciept.
So at this point I'm getting pretty pissed and head back to the exhaust guy (who is excellent at cutting and welding and all that good stuff) to fix the manifold to where I can get it to fit right. After about 3 1/2 hours of messing with this manifold we finally get the wastegate to clear the power steering pump, so I decide to take it for a little test drive. I get out on the back roads and open it up a little and still nothing. So at this point I'm tired of messing with it, I'm tired of spending money on it (a good $450 easy already) and I'm ready to get my baby back on the road. Any suggestions as to what could be causing this problem would be great.
CLIFFS:
1. Mechanic hooks up wastegate backwards, runs it, and doesn't tell me about it
2. I take to get exhaust fixed, discover wastegate fiasco and take to mechanic
3. Mechanic tells me its fine and he can't do anything else with it.
4. Get wastegate fixed and still no boost
5. Tried boost leak test and checked for leaks in manifold and turbo and found none.
6. Confused and pissed off.
Sorry for the long post, its just been a long month, I'm broke, and exhausted.
