Okay, I ran into a stupied big problem today. ROFL

I have a pacesetter manifold
and a hks 44mm w.g.

I toke this off a parts car over a year ago. NOW I can't remember where the hell this w.g was attached. I'm thinking there was a housing/adapter flange thing inbetween the O2 housing and the turbo? Am I missing something here? here are some pictures of what I got.

And clearly you will see that the pacesetter HAS not flanged attached to it. And yes I have wrapped and coated the pacesetter and cleaned up w.g since these pictures where taken.

any help or guidenss would be GREAT.

THanks in advance

Well, if it doesnt get attached to the manifold, then it goes on the hot side of the turbo. Thats the only place it could go.

never mind I don't have a picture of the exhaust that will be going back on car.

But it is basically this, O2 is attached to this dp already with a O2 dump straight back to the muffler.

Should I tkae a picture(when its daylight) and post it up and see where ppl say I should have flange welded?

So how did this guy before me run a waste gate?! The one on the turbo is welded shut!

It will be easiest to take the turbo in and have the wastegate hole drilled out, and then run the wastegate off the o2 housing. The previous owner either used a different manifold with this turbo, or didn't use the turbo at all.

no he used it, cause I knew him. But like I stated I took this set up off his car over a year and a half ago.

I'll get a picture of the exhaust like I stated and you all can explain to me better what i should do.

Wait it sounds like your explaining a o2 eliminator downpipe. But I dont get the part where you say the o2 dump straight back to the muffler? Do you mean the o2 dump goes back into the downpipe, like its recirculated? If so then you cant use the wastegate for it unless you get a different downpipe with a o2 housing that is made to mount a wastegate.

But yeah pics would help.

The wastegate needs to sit between the head and the turbine wheel. Anywhere in that area is fine. The collector would be the optimal spot. If the wastegate port in the turbine housing is welded shut, then I'd recommend that you flange that manifold for the gate.

Either way, you're going to need to do some work to fit that gate on there.

this is the exhaust with the O2 housing attached to it.

that whole setup was made for a turbo with an internal wastegate.

THere is no way the external would work with that setup unless you welded the wastegate passage shut and had an adapter plate inbetween the header and turbine housing with a flange for your external there. THen id would work, but you might as well just use an internal wg turbine housing with that setup.

actually you could just set the wastegate up on that dump tube, it would work fine like that, or maybe it was setup that way to begin with. but it appears yer going to have to modify it to get that wastegate working probably.

yeah, you are right, just weld a flange on the end of that dump tube, and then it would work.

However it would be cleaner and easier if you cut off that dump, found a spot for the wastegate up on top of the exhaust there and then welded a flange and made a new dump tube. Thats probably the cleanest and easiest way to get the setup to work.

You need to get a flange put on that manifold for the wastegate, you need to re-do that downpipe with the proper flange for your turbo if its non-internally gated, and you need to re-do your dumptube to suit the new location of your wastegate.
