ok guys ive got a bushur race intercooler i got a really good deal on it. yes i know for a fact its a real bushur race core. im wondering if its going to be alittle to much for a big 16 turbo if so is there anything i can do ? thanks for the input guys

Too big for that turbo IMO. Anything up to a 50 trim, I'd stick with a street core (7-8" tall). If you already have it and want to use it, stick a boost gauge before and after the core and see what the pressure drop is, and if it changes your response time.

Is it the 24x10x3.5 core? I got my core from RRE ( it's 24x8x3 ) and My 16g worked very well with it. The Buschur core is only slightly larger so i would think it would work and not need replacing if/when you get a bigger turbo. At the very worst case, you might see a bit of pressure drop due to volum inside teh core, but i doubt it would be noticable like too small a core would be.

lets hope so. the core is HUGE its the kit bushur sells for 1200 or 1300 i believe its the 24x13x4 core that i have....

There's a HUGE difference in cross section between a 10 x 3.5 and an 8 x 3 core. Talking 50% larger there. OP, if you have a 13 x 4 core, that's gigantic even for a 500whp setup.

That's their newer one which is the same as what they use on their Evos. Damned if it's huge or not, it REALLY does its job well. I've heard nothing but praise for that thing.

I don't really feel that it's too big either--what do you have to lose? A couple hundred RPM of spool at worst? I'd say thats worth it for what it delivers.

yeah im puting it on this weekend ill let you guys know how it works out ive got a a small issue i need to figure out now but i should be able to get somthing to work.. i got a j pipe thats form sbr the problem is that its only 2inch pipe and its going into a 90 degree cupler thats 2.5inch so yeah LOL any ideas?

perfect i might have to order when i work at an auto parts store and ordered a 2.5 inch one on both sides because i got it cheap enough. i called and asked if they made one like that and said no :( im going to try and make what i have work some way if not ill be ordering one like that

Wait just a minute here, did you get the 1g one or the EVO core? I don't care about pipes just the core w/endtanks, I'm wondering if the buschur evo core will fit the 2g with some hacking... He only sells the 24X11X3.5 for the 2g :(

While you can't get a clear view of the endtanks in that picture, I'm willing to bet that they look pretty normal. Why do you think they favor the Evo front ends? The only thing I can think of is that the Evos have way more space than we do to fit FMICs.

Not a direct comparison, but I've seen people run the ETS 4" FMIC on a 2g with no problems. Could you rephrase your question possibly?

The only downside of a bigger core would be (as it was already said) a possibility of an increased response time. Pressure drop shouldn't be worse. Bigger crossectional area allows air to pass more freely - pretty much the same as electrical resistance. The heavier gauge wire - less resistance. The only thing is that this particular core is a Garrett high density one and is gonna have a bit more pressure drop in comparison to the same sized core by, say, Spearco.

Hey, talon 187! If you don't mind, how much did that core cost you and where? I 'm thinking about that same one. If you can PM me, that's cool. Thanks.

ill give the story how i got it my buddy had it on his race car the end tank got messed up and he sold it to me for 250. i know a guy who fixed it perfect for free the only thing that was wrong was the end tank that is it. i got the pipes i needed for 15 each from work and spent about 80 on cuplers and another 55 on a j pipe and 30 for a 1g bov flange and gaskets i needed

Oh, you 've just lucked out. Congrats. I thought there was a below retail source somewhere with more than one.

Geting a big donkey dick intercooler isnt going to make your car faster

Match your turbo setup together!

Most of the fast cars with min mods you see are a nice balance of match parts

Bigger isnt always better

i only went so big because i got a unbeatable deal on it. the core doesnt seem to be to big for the turbo im running it goes really good i notice big improvements

I completely agree with matching up parts and making a nice combo but at the same time I have yet to see a car that was slowed down by a bigger core (of the same quality of course).
