Ok, so im trying to hit 350-380whp on a Evo III 16g setup, but I also want as little lag as possible. I know to have a real chance at this I HAVE to go with a FMIC, I had set my mind on the kit diamondstarmotorsport was selling but when I went to order today, there site isnt listing ANY intercoolers anymore?? Part of the down sizeing

I dont need a FULL kit as I already have a Dejon UICP made for the GM MAFT setup. And I hate rebuying parts. Also I DO want to keep my fog lights, dont give a damn about the A/C though, thats going to go anyway. Also all my pipeing is 2.5" and I'd like the IC to be the same.

So does anyone know of a good IC to go with? I would like to buy something that has the lower pipes, from the turbo to the IC and from the IC to the stock location feeding the UICP. DSMsports had this but who knows what happened.

I am currently looking on extremepsi's site thinking the Kinetic street core looks good, but I dont need a full kit and I didn't see just a core.

For 350-380 whp, and some durability, I recommend a PWR Air-Water Intercooler (they come in all different sizes, lengths ect).

2.5" exhaust cannot support much more than 300 whp....ask me I know....look at my profile
3" exhaust will be the minimum I recommend....

650-850cc injectors and some fuel/timing control, this should be a walk in the park for you.

:thumb: Good luck...your gonna need that 2600 you have on your wishlist.............

Their (kinetic) street core should be perfect for those levels. Buy the kit, and sell your other pipes. Dont make it hard on yourself!

I have the larger core. If lag is your concern, I wouldnt worry about it. Moving from a 14b to a 20g and the large core, lag is not an issue. It certainly wont be in your case!

Any big sized fmic will work. And i have a question, why do you want to keep your fog lights? but yet dont care if you lose you a/c? Just doesnt make sence.. After a week of not having foglights and a big fmic up front you wont care about foglights anymore. But when you need that a/c your are gonna be like stuiped fmic.

I have it for my evoIII 16G. I'm running 20 psi right now, and in 110* Arizona heat doing multiple hard pulls, it's cooling just fine. The inlet side of the intercooler gets so hot I can barely touch it, but the outlet side feels about ambient (still warm, but it's not going to get less than 110*).

You get to keep the fogs. There's a 10.5" tall if you don't think the 7" will cut it, but I'm not sure if you still get to keep the fogs with the bigger core.

You can buy just the 7" core for around $300. They would probably sell you just some of the pipes if you wanted them too. However, their pipes are semi-short route (doesn't go through stock location, but goes around the core support).

Well im not sure how up to date my profile is, but i have 750cc FIC injectors, 90 chiped Eprom ecu and DSMLink etc. None of which is installed yet since im in Iraq and thats all back home at my parents house along with the car.

I also know that 2.5" is to small to meat my goals but I doubt i'll upgread that soon, likely to get a new tranny from Team Rip or shep, clutch, flywheel then exhaust. And from what I have seen the 3" VRS systems hang very well so if I BUY one i'll go with that, other wise i'll proably just get a good DP and go to a local shop for the rest.

As to why I want my fog lights, #1 I like the way they look #2 I have wished I had them to use when I tuck them off in the past. I removed them before because the switch is broke, but I got a new one from Mach V, and there in mint condition so I dont see why I shouldn't want to use them.

And I have never used the A/C in the car because it needed to be re-filled about 6 months after I got the car, I removed the AC in my first DSM and rolled with the windows down yr round, and I never use it in this one, I just still roll everywhere with the window down. So I see no need for it. Plus im trying to blance the weight of the car as a side project so the less weight up front the better.

Anyway looks like I might go with the Kinetic kit, but I really like my UICP! And im not sure I will be able to keep it with this kit. Since it's flared ar the right spots for the GM MAFT setup. Plus I have a two tone schem going on. Since the car is Red/Black im doing red/black under the hood as well. I dont have any pics at the moment but it goes like this.

Dejon intake pipe (Red)
Dejon UICP (Black)
Mitsubishi spark plug cover (black w/ gold letters)
Shaved Red valve cover w/ Black T belt cover
and so on.

I want it to not only preform well but look good too. The cars not for stright line so much as it will be for Road race / Auto X style raceing. Which is why im trying to balance it's weight better, keep it clean and tastefull but obveiously modifed reflecting my own style.

Anyway thx, i'm going to keep looking though I may call Diamondstar soon and see if I can still get the kit I wanted.

I second extremeintercoolers.com

JR is our lone sponsor and has stepped to the plate numerous times for us. From 3 or 4 custom kits to a few "off the shelf kits". You can not go wrong with the customer service nor the quality. The past few 2G kits be them custom or basic kits, have been far easier to install than I could have ever imagined. Go with JR. He won't steer you wrong. He can even adapt to what you have.
