I was curious if anyone knew what the max boost PSI is set for on a Stock Evo III 16g Wastegate actuator? Mine crapped out on me and I bought a replacement one from Japan. I can't boost past 8 pounds. I have the line going from the J-pipe to the actuator, no boost controller. I just want to make sure 8 pounds is correct, or if I should be getting 12 pounds.

Oops title should say Wastegate Actuator.

Install a boost controller and you will be able to go higher. My 16G only went to 9lbs with no boost controller installed.

The other thing you could do is reinstall your stock BCS and it will raise your boost pressure.

Ya 8 psi is about right for the actuator hooked up directly to the pressure source (but they usually creep abit by the time you get to redline). The bcs will raise the boost abit, another way is to shim the actuator. Do this by adding some washers under the 2 mounting points on the comp cover, this pre loads the actuator.

Mine must have been the freak of the bunch. It would hit 10-11 without a boost controller.

Was the actuator hooked up directly to the pressure source or did you leave the stock bcs in place? If you still were using the bcs that is normal, if that was connected directly and was initially spooling to that, then you are the lucky freak of the bunch :thumb:

Nope no bcs it was hook up straight to the pressure source. Not that it really mattered though, it was normally hooked up to a mbc and run higher than that.
Maybe you are leaking at your Wastegate Actuator. I was hitting 20+ PSI on my EVO III 16g with the actuator hooked right up to the source. I was leaking where the actuator rod goes into the actuator housing. That's why I got this new one. I can't get my car to go past 5,000 RPMS though, which I am thinking means I have another boost leak. But at least my boost isn't going higher the 9 PSI.
