My t25 is on its way out and the rest of my engine is great shape. Im going to buy the stage 4 kit evo 16g from fp. i was just wondering if i would safe running stock boost, with solinoid controler, or should i just run straight to the wastegate.

Im buying dsm link later this summer but i just need to get the car on the road right now and dont want to spend the same money twice.

upgrades are, intake, fuel pump and re wire, stock exhuast.

thanks.

Well you'd be able to run higher than stock boost due to the fuel pump, but the stock exhaust really inhibits the performance gains. I'd recommend getting / building a 3" turbo-back. Also the 2g BOV leaks at 12-13 psi of boost or so, so you'd have to get a 1g BOV or other to increase boost. The UICP on the 2g also flexes under more boost, so a hard piping would be recommended.

I have a 3" exhaust, UICP w/ 1g BOV, MBC, half hard intake pipe, and free mods. I run 14.5 psi and have no problems whatsoever. I'd like to port my exhaust mani, but am waiting for an upgrade to the turbo to do so. My current restriction is the fuel pump. I'm going to up to a 255 lph and be able to run more boost, but then i will be maxing out the t25 shortly afterward.

When you do install the new turbo porting to 7cm on the exhaust mani and turbo will allow for better spool time and thus better acceleration. It is highly recommended as well.

ahh forgot to mention i already have 1g bov, also the turbo comes comepletely ported, and i planned on matching the exhuast manifold to it.

The stock 2g UICP is still a weak point that flexes and needs to be addressed as well as the exhaust to take full potential of the new turbo.

For your current situation, I'd stick to stock boost driven by the seloniod. Keep an eye on your oil level to make sure its not bleeding too bad. You might run a little rich with your upgraded pump, but you still should follow the listed upgrade path to maximize performance gains. Running a big turbo through stock exhaust is like blowing a fan through a coffee straw.

As much as your fuel system can support, but no more then 22 psi on a stock motor.:toobad:

I'm able to push about 33 lbs/min on the stock cat back @ 20psi. I was running 16psi when my car was dynoed and have since turned up the boost to 20psi and have not had it back to the dyno. I picked up another 4 lbs/min when I upped the boost from 16 to 20psi, which is about normal. I wouldn't consider the stock cat back that much of a restriction, judging by my flow numbers, but I never ran the EVO III 16g with the stock DP and cat, so I can't give you any numbers on that end.

which is the stage 4 16g...it doesnt list by stages. or do you mean package 4. just one thing to mention as well with that kit is that with the evo o2 housing...you wont bolt up to the stock dp easily. you will need the rre downpipe made for the evo housing, as it sits at a diff angle than stock.
