Hey everyone, i just recieved my Tial wastegate. It had a warning on it that said not for leaded fuel use. I have never heard of this before? whats the deal? If someone could explain, that would be great.
I hardly use race so its not a huge deal, but if i want to, i want to know its ok.

Thanks
Jerry

From Tial's Website

Valve Stem Options
The TiAL F38 is the only wastegate with the option to choose the valve stem's protective coating. To keep the overall cost of the unit down, the choice of coating was left to the customer.

Lead Oxide which is present only when burning leaded fuels is corrosive to the Black coating on the Street valve's stem. Extended use of leaded fuel will cause performance problems and unreliable valve actuation.

The Silver coating on the Race valve stem is resistant to the corrosive effects of Lead Oxide. Similarly works well with unleaded fuel. The Racing valve is available for an additional charge

I would not think this valve woudl go bad with occasional leaded fuel use, but for the extra $25, is cheep insurance to get the coated valve (can also buy it after the fact) :dsm:

I've used race gas every weekend for 2 years now and I haven't noticed any problems.... Maybe its only if you try to run race gas constantly or something... my tial still runs perfectly.
