will a garrett turbo that was on a different kind of car fit my 91 talon tsi?
i dont know what kind of car it was on
but i bought it cause there was no shaft play at all
and didnt look like it had been leaking oil
so im wondering if it will fit my talon
i dont know what size it is or anything
how can i find this out
does it say on it somewhere?
i have it in front of me so if any body needs info to help me figure out what it is
i can tell you
input will be greatly appreciated
thanks

It's not going to tell us much because we still don't know what size the turbine or compressor wheel it is. That A/R only tells us the size of the compressor housing.

Additionally, on the exhast side, is the flange to the manifold a standard Garrett flange (squared opening) or a Mitsubishi flange (round opening)? If it's a Garrett flange, then you'll hvae to fabricate an exhaust manifold so you can use that turbo. Same goes for the flange to the O2 housing.

If you have a picture, maybe this can help, but I doubt it. Knowing what car it came from would've helped as well.

it has a square flange so pretty much its useless for my car?
if i called garrett and gave them the serial number could they tell me what car its for?
thanks for your help

It isn't useless for your car but like Quasimodo said you will need a different exhaust manifold and O2 housing. Turbonetics sells a cast manifold and there are many other companies (SFP, DNP, AMS, Shearer, Magnus, etc...) also make tubular manifolds that fit the T3 hotside. An O2 housing is easy to fab up, hellotbone did a write up as well as an installation process for the turbo too.

Hope this helps.

If it is really off one of those cars, then yes. They are very small, not really any kind of upgrade. Its not going to be worth the kind of work it will take to put it on the car.

If you do decide to use it, Hahn Racecraft (http://www.hahnracecraft.com/) sells adapter plates that allow a T3 style turbo to be bolted up to the factory manifold. It's model number H TZ-7335; If you call sales and talk to Brad, they'll take good care of you.
