Im still waiting for my e16g to come in,Anyway I ordered it unported,I wanna know how high peoples turbos are creeping to.I plan on running 22psi.I dont want to port it if I dont have to.Could some of you tell me how far yours creeps unported.Thanks alot
 
I have a tubular external dump o2 housing i ported the hell out of the 16g correctly and have 34mm flapper, and with the combination of this and a straight 3" turbo back no resonators or mufflers I creep up to 15psi in 2nd gear I dont know after this because a few minutes after i took a spin in my car my stock clutch started to slip. I would port it if i were you.

if you are plan on running 22psi it will creep to about 25psi and drop to about 19to20 near redline! especially since it is not ported! just my $.02:)
 
Well I guess I better just spend the time and port the hell out of it then.Thanks for your replies

I believe you are refering to boost spike and not creep. I havent seen creep drop down to a lesser value; creep keeps increasing the boost since your wastegate cant get rid of unharnessed and unwanted exhaust fast enough.
 
Hmm, my car is fairly stock fuel-wise, I have it set to 11 and it creeps to 15 or 18 by redline. I don't think creep should be much of a problem for you since you're running 22psi.
 
Well mine was unported. 2.5 downpipe w/cat 2.5 catback exhaust and no creep. I'm assuming this is due to my exhaust.
 
i have tubular exhaust mani, and ported turbine housing but i did not port the wastegate portion of my turbo =( so at psi it creeped to about 20psi at before i shifted. but when i set it at 20psi it may creep a lb or 2 but nothing much and it will not fall towards redline accually rises just ever so slightly, honestly a great turbo i love it.

:edit: i have 3" o2 housing with external dump tube and 3" turbo back.
 
Friend's car, only mildly ported to match his manifold, no porting to help wastegate function. Creeps to 20 psi when you set it to less than that. He runs 21-22 psi all the time and there's no problem. He has a 3" exhaust and 2.5" o2 dump downpipe.
 
So what do you guys think,If I have a full 3 inch exhaust with no cat do you think it will creep past 22psi.I ported my 02 housing out.I just dont want to port it cause it weakens the walls and lead to cracking.What do you all think.Should I leave it or just port it.

So your running no cat correct.Im probably going to just port mine to be safe.Cause I cant run over 22psi without racegas.
 
My Evo III 16G isn't ported at all, and I have no creep issues.

It may have something to do with the upgraded cams my car has.
 
Unported evoIII with ported 2g O2 housing creeping to 24-25 psi, creeps to that regardless of where the boost is set.

Or maybe it is the 30+ PSI you are running ;)

boost creep happens when people try to run turbo's under their efficeincy range, like trying to run a e16g under 20psi.

Right, no cat. Even when I was at 20psi, I didn't encounter any creep problems.

I got the turbo wednesday and went ahead and ported it.I probably did not need to though.I set it to 23psi and it goes all the way to redline there.Will this turbo keep making power if i decide to turn it up to over 25psi?Or will it run out of effiecency at that boost level.

Yes, as long as you use race fuel, and have the right supporting mods it will make more power.

Yeah I have all the supporting mods.Right now at 23psi I have no knock.
 
Installed my 16g turbo over weekend. works pretty good, even though it does not kick like a 14b, but still feels like it has more power..
set mine at 15lbs, w/stock evrything, ported2g manifold, and 2.5" down pipe cut at cat.
Only has creep if I turn up the boost controller over 16lbs, it will creep up about 2lbs.
But running at 15lbs does great with no promblem, but sometimes I get a big back fire or fuel cut or something when floored. which leads me to the question. How much can a stock head gasket hold under turbo pressure per lbs?
