Im having trouble spooling at 16 psi. Boosting 12psi and lower are fine, but once i turn it to anything above 12 psi, there does not seem to be any power, and it actually slows down, then smoke comes out of the exhaust leaving a nasty trail. If it is a turbo problem, it shouldn't spool at all shouldn't it? Any one have any suggestions on what else it could be? Everything is basically bonse stock, besides a boost controller, and a 2.5" exhaust.

Would a boost leak cause smoke to come out of the exhaust though? My knowledge of boost leaks does not have anything to do with the smoke in the exhaust. I have it set to 16 psi all the time, but flooring it gets me those results, but not getting on it all the way gives me results w/o any of the smoking.

When you have a boost leak the leak is letting metered air out of the system(like when you vent your bov). This lost metered air causes a rich condition when the ecu calculates fuel needed. Basically the mixture is richer than it should be. The "smoke" you are seeing is unburned fuel. Guessing it is a dark grey/black color?

also the ecu has different fuel trims at wot and doesn't listen to the o2 sensor at wot, so if your running rich, the o2 sensor wont correct it since the ecu could care less what the o2 is reading. if its stock, its probably a boost leak.
