Yup, another thread...I have lots of problems as you can see

Well, I have been trying to tackle this ExtremePsi UICP install on my 91awd over the last couple days...It is below freezing in my non-heated garage so the bolts are stubborn and so is my patience...

--I have managed to get the BOV portion and majority of the tiny, stock rubber pipes off, but this last one is just a Pain in the ass!!
-----> I can't get to this last hose clamp! It is the clamp that goes directly to the SMIC, and it is humanly impossible to reach your hand in there to grab it...

-I have already tried tackling the wheel well area/splash shield but I have voted against it after things started getting misaligned and I didn't think it would go back in to place post-install (and dirt got in my eyes)...

1. So, the logical choice would be, TAKE OUT THE AIRCAN...Well, so far, I have had lots of trouble with this task...I took all of the bolts off of the aircan and detached the filter/intake connection basically, but I can't seem to figure out how to get this damn hacked-can off...I move it every which way but it's not enough to get to this POS hose clamp that I want to destroy once I get it off..

2. Once I get the hose clamp off and it's time to really get the new unit on, how is this pipe going to fit? I have an ABS 1g UICP, but the real problem lies with the aircan...It doesn't look like I will have any room for the pipe to fit stable without getting in the way of the stock cut-can....
-----Can I just get rid of the can itself, and run an open filter? If so, where will the attached MAS unit clamp itself onto...Im using all original equipment to bolt the intake in place (besides one SS clamp on the turbo inlet)

Help is needed, I have lots of projects to tackle, and this is already taking way too long..Thanks a ton

Well if all the bolts are out of the aircan all you should be able to remove it. I would look over the air can again and see if maybe you missed a bolt. After you get it off you can just get rid of the can and just run the filter open. You just clamp the filter to the mas air unit with the clamps that used to hold the can on. Also if you want you can use a long handle box wrench on that one hose clamp or maybe a 1/4 inch socket with a ratchet that has a long handle.

well from the pic it looks like you missed a bolt holding the aircan down, right next to the intercooler pipe. if that is what i believe it is. yea you can run open filter. mine hasnt given me any problems, ju a nicer growl, LOL.

also, BECAREFUL when taking that last hose off. when i took mine off, the smic port broke off in the hose, due to it being corroded. thus the reason i need to get a new uicp, luckly i have a spare smic.

OK...THANK YOU EVERYONE...BUT I GOT BIGGER PROBLEMS NOW!!
-----BTW: I removed and re-installed the Air can...I tossed it aside so now Im running open filter and all that jazz...Thanks for helping me with that choice...

1. In the process of Removing the T-body elbow....I got off the 4 bolts/nuts but this mofo won't come off....There seems to be a screw that holds a bracket holding a large metal bracket pieced to the motor, and I have stripped this screw...>This screw won't budget at all, and it strips when you turn it...I can't take off the stock T-body elbow ### of this shit....If I got this out, can I move the large rusty bracket and take off this POS stock pipe...I need some advice for removing all of this, it's the last piece to my removal puzzle...

2. Well, after bolting back the intake/filter, I attempted to trial fit my UICP assembly (minus the new elbow)....Well, so far so not good....It seems that altho it clears my ABS a little, the pipe is too far up (a little higher than Valve cover height) and it's too far over...This new elbow is much larger and Im strongly doubting it will fit....Also, the trial fit of the Recirc. tube makes the stock plastic tubing bend very harshly...It's not a free-flowing rubber tube anymore, now it has these EXTREMELY sharp bends in the tubing....
--------------Has anybody else ran into problems like these, and no any possible solutions or can give me any advice...I guess It's my fault for choosing the ExtremePSi UICP b/c I don't know many other (or any other) people running this setup, so it's hard to get first-hand advice

Please, Im at another crossroad and I just want to get my Talon up and running

That bolt is connected to a a STUPID POS bracket that acts as an extra motor mount. Take it off and keep it...so if you need to pull the motor you can use this.
As far as taking that stripped bolt use a vicegrips so that you can maintain a constant solid ass grip on the bolt.
if you cant get a grip in there use a smaller socketed box-wrench so that you can jam it onto the nut - since it doens have any edges.
good luck man.

Ya, that's the bracket im talking about....Here are some pics:

As you can see, the screw has a circular head, so I can't fit any kind of socket wrench over it to squeeze it out...It is stripped so it's impossible to fit a screwdriver in...I can try breaking it out if I won't have to use it again, but that just holds the bracket for the cast iron piece down...How the hell do you take off that motor mount piece?? Where else is it connected to?? I probably can't reach the other bolt if it is down in the block area

You could take a cutting wheel to it and make a notch to use a large flathead screwdriver on it. Or just cut the bracket off...

You still might be able to get a vice-grip on the screw and turn it out. or just cut it as suggested above.

btw, did you take out the other bolt(underneith the throllte cables somewhere i believe) that holds that big metal bracket on? I do belive their is another bolt you need to remove.

I don't think that POS screw will come out with the pliers or what not...We'll see where I go with this...;)

Anyway, I have taken out the 4 elbow bolts, and 2 of them connected to the metal engine hoisting bracket...I have heard that the last one is actually one of the CAS boltsOMG

So Im a little nervous to take that one bolt out, in fear of screwing up my timing...You think that by taking that 1 CAS bolt off for a short little time period to get the bracket off will screw up the timing and make the CAS move?

I know i had that plate all the way off when i put my 2G throttle body elbow and and nothing was wrong with my car after i got it back together.
