Hey guys, recently I decided to upgrade my turbo size to something in the .60+ a/r range, like a larger 50 trim or 57 trim, either way I noticed some of the Honda guys running these top mount manifolds, i personally think they are very cool but have not seen anybody let alone shops sell these type of manifolds for our cars besides the 420A. So my question to you is do any of you know of any top mount manifolds made for a 4g63 that can support a t4 housing? If not I think i might have to settle for my stock ported 2g manny :sosad:

Thanks,
-Tony

Turbo has since been switched to a T4/GT40. On a very rough base tune its seeing full boost (22 psi) right now @ about 4800 rpm in 3rd gear. More testing to come.

aide from being "cool", is there any other reason you'd get a top mount?

IMO just get an SBR cast manifold, port it yourself, and call it a day. it will carry you deep into 11's before a top mount will yield you any gains, if any.

A top mount manifold will not yield any kind of special performance gains. Engine bay packaging and design constraints generally lead to this type of manifold. I've played with a couple designs and if you want to keep a full exhaust it is generally not feasible in a DSM since the P/S pump and alternator will most likely have to be relocated or removed. We're not having a problem mounting a gt42 in a typical mounting fashion on a dsm and it is a cleaner install and will help to keep under hood temperatures down a little.

I'd imagine that the reason they went top-mount is because fitting all that turbo in the stock location would be a little..... interesting.

Built this one to do something a little diff and so far the testing is showing it is working very well. Provides ease of access to the turbo/downpipe/wastegate, shortens IC piping, lower pipe is 6" long if that, alternator remains in stock location. Boost responce is awesome for a T4 based turbo, the car starts pulling hard in 3rd gear @ 4500 rpm on a very rough tune, that leaves for a very good powerband.
