Is a 60-1 overkill?

Hey guys... its time for me to order my turbo, and I was planning on getting the RS60-T, but I'm starting to wonder if thats too much for my goals. Originally, my big plans were to break 500hp, but now I see its going to take a lot of work and a hell of a lot more money than I want to spend right now.

The car is going to be used 100% on the street, so its going to only see pump gas. I've got a build bottom end and I'm running a stock 2g head, as well as a build tranny. I've got a 3" exhaust and a 2.5" Evo III o2 housing, and the injectors I'll decide upon when I make my turbo decision.

The reason I was leaning toward the RS60 was because it was cheap and the numbers I saw from AGP looked real appealing, but now I'm wondering if I'm going to hate the lag of a 60-1 wheel, especially if I don't have Cams or a SMIM.

I don't really have a set HP goal anymore, I'd like to break 400, but I know thats going to take a lot of work as well, though I'd like to have a solid 11 sec. car. I'm just worried the 60-1 wont be as much fun on the streets as a 50 trim will be, but I don't know if I'll be able to get a 50 trim into the 11's without spending another grand on cams and an SMIM. I'd also like to keep an internal wastegate for the shear fact of keeping it cheaper.

Any Input is welcome, and maybe even throw a few turbo suggestions my way.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the guidance here.

a friend of mine has a 50 trim on a 2g and i have an evo III on mine..althogh i spool alot faster and sometimes am faster from liht to light...i would reccomend getting the 50 trim. it is worth sticking with that. a 60 trim is a beautiful turbo but wiht your goals in mind i think a 50 trim should be fine, and save you the $$

I had to make the same decision about 6 months ago. I chose the PTE 50 and I am glad I did. the 60 is great if you are going to run race fuel with boost near 30+ psi. Any "safe" amount of boost you will be running on pump gas would benefit you much more with the 50. I run 23 psi. daily on 93 oct. and it pulls nicely. No need to over kill your turbo until you get every other mod up to where it needs to be.
