OK i have researched this topic, but i cant find the necessary things in which i am looking for. I am completely new to building any type of engine, and have only been in the turbo game for about 3 years. I am looking at building a 6 bolt turbo engine over the course of probably 6 months to a year. Im planning on purchasing a used one on here, or possibly from a company on ebay that sells them, but has already had them resurfaced and cleaned and blue printed etc. Now as far as building the engine, lets say i get a used one. Do ihave the have it cleaned and resurfaced as far as the cylinder walls etc. I am planning on going with forged rods and pistons. I know that lower compression i can run higher boost and vice versa. But when it comes to new valves, and rod bearings, main bearings, springs, cams, the different gaskets that i will need, main studs and head studs etc. I mean, should i replace all of that stuff when i get the engine?? I just want to build the engine first, then i will take care of the fuel, and the suspension etc. afterwords. Its going to be a project, its going to be all nice and clean and professional. But i need to know what is necessary and what is not. If there is someone in PA that wouldnt mind helping me out i would greatly appreciate it. I know its a long post, but its a good one i think. LOL well thanks for any help that you guys can give me.

I think that you should tell us what the car will eventually be used for, ex: daily driver or weekend warrior or whatever. Then tell us what kind of power levels you're looking for, if you have a range. Then we can better tell you what you need to do to make the engine reliable.
