I just recently turned up the boost to about 22 on my 16g and tuned everything out, problem is now im getting large spikes with my Joe P. MBC, at 15 psi it was fine and only spiked 1-2 psi and was never a problem. Now if im rolling in first and go WOT the spike hits 26-27 before it settles back down causing the car to bog down a bit before it settles and starts gaining speed. This is the third MBC ive had and even though the Joe P holds spikes the best of any of the ones ive had i still cant handle it, i need something that either doesnt spike at all or only does like 1 psi. I havent been able to find a definitive answer if going the profec route will get rid of my spike and allow me to go WOT whenever i want without easing into the throttle. My wastegate is ported and i have an o2 eliminator dp so thats not the problem. I wish there was something that I could do to the Joe P. to control the spikes because id really like to use my money on cams rather than an ebc.

What's up Chadillac2000.. If you're taking the pressure source from the bov line, try changing it to the compressor /j-pipe and see it helps. Also, have you done a boost leak test yet since the turbo install?

I had some pretty big boost spikes with my mbc & evoIII. Sometimes 4 or 5 psi between shifts & about 2 psi when I went wot. I bought a profec type s boost controller & this got rid of the spikes, now I have about 1 psi between shifts and none on spool up. The only thing you have to watch with these units is that they work on a multiplication of your stock wg pressure. I believe its about 2.5x the stock pressure on the type s. So check first what your stock wg pressure is. Mine initially spools 8 psi so I can only get 18 psi out of this controller with the high turned all the way up & the gain is about 1/3 way up. But there may be a problem with my wg.

Oldman, ill try that and see if that helps any, but i definitely dont wanna do the profec if i cant get more than 18 psi, i should probably do a boost leak test because no i didnt do one after i finished my porting job

tapped it to a boost source nipple on the bottom of the j pipe and now boost holds solid at 22 psi no matter how hard i punch it, thanks oldman, you are my best friend :thumb:
