First off, I know this has been discussed infinity times but I'd like to have some input from all you guys. I just got a $1000 paycheck and I'm going to upgrade my T25. I've scrounged up my checklist to have it all done but I'd like to see if I've missed anything. Here it goes:
1. 16g/14b(haven't decided that part yet)
2. j-pipe(already have it)
3. Oil feed line(already have it)
4. 255 lph fuel pump
5. What size injectors?
6. Dsmlogger
7. LICP maybe?
8. upgraded clutch after fresh stock one goes(actually, how much can a stock one handle?)

Upgraded intercooler will happen later but I already have a 1G BOV, boost gauge, 3" exhaust, intake, and MBC. I think after these mods I should be able to safely support my upgraded turbo. So have I missed anything blatenly obvious or anything at all? I will keep on searching but I'm also really busy with my college schedule so I'm trying to get some help.
Thanks all,
Chris

If you don't plan on going bigger than a 16g/14b, you should be good with a 190 pump and 550cc injectors. If you get the 255, you'll need to get a AFPR which is more money. Get the LICP when you upgrade the intercooler.

Cool, thanks. Will the stock LICP even fit on the 16g? I'll def. get the 190 and 550's. No point in spending extra money. So will I need to be a pro to use the dsmlogger? I've heard it's just plug and play but I've also heard you can really screw things up if you don't know what you're doing.

Nope, you'll need to upgrade it now, unless you get a T28.

Nope, just ask us

Not very much

You'll need an SAFC-2 also.

The logger just reads and logs. You can't mess up or blow your car with a logger, it is not a fuel computer. You will need a SAFC or MAFT or something as a fuel computer with bigger injectors and the fuel pump. You CAN get a radiator hose to use as a LICP and then when you upgrade to a bigger intercooler you can get a metal LICP. "ddavisaf" is right, the stock LICP will not work between the j-pipe and the SMIC.

I think he meant to say "DSMLink". Check out their website.

Well, I did mean dsmlogger. I'm def. not gonna be able to afford dsmlink and all the other stuff. But I'll definately look into a safc-2. Don't know too much about them but I'll look into it. Will I be able to program the safc-2 with my dsmlogger? Thanks for the help so far everyone.

If you haven't bought your pump/injectors/safc, look into www.extremepsi.com, they have a DSM fuel management kit which is a little cheaper. The SAFC has can be programed itself, the logger will tell you what is going on inside your engine which will help you to tune with the SAFC. Check the classifieds on here, some members sell their SAFCs when they upgrade to DSMlink.

Oh ok. Since you have a 1995, I figured it was just a typo. You can't program with the datalogger. It is just for datalogging. That is where the SAFC, DSMLink, etc. come into the picture. They are for tuning. The only hitch is that DSMLink can be used for datalogging too. So it does both. Not a bad price for what you get.

Regarding the SAFC, give this a read and see what questions you have afterwards.

Holy crap Mirage1! Thanks alot! That's exactly what I was looking for. Great, so now that I know what to do I'll get that also. By the way, with a safc-2 I can vent to the atmosphere right? Anyways, thanks for the help. So far I'm planning on getting a 16g, new LICP, dsmlogger, safc-2, and 190 fuel pump. I think I'll stick with the stock 450's for now and see how it goes.

So about the clutch, how much can a stock one handle? I think I'll have to turn down my boost to a level my stock clutch can handle because I won't have the money to replace it any time soon.

By the way, about the safc, will that enable me to run without recirculating? I honestly don't really care, but curiousity's getting the better of me. :shhh:

Update: So far I've ordered the 190 lph fuel pump, dsmlogger, and looking at a 16g ported with a 34mm flapper. Can't wait, it's like christmas all over again....but wayyy better. stupid shirts...stupid socks.... :D

venting a 1g bov = bad idle / car stalling.

venting a 1g bov = bad idle / car stalling.

Venting ANY BOV without a blow-through setup or standalone = performance loss. You may not stall with other BOVs, but you're not doing the car any good.

Since you already have a 95 EPROM ECU, dsmlink won't cost you as much as those who don't. You'll just have to pay for the socketing and cable/software (~$630). If you go out and buy a new SAFC and logger, you're going to spend around $500. If you think you'll ever want dsmlink, you may as well wait a little longer to save if you have to and get it now. If you don't already have a laptop, I forgot that you'll still need that too. But you can get a used laptop on ebay for ~$100 that will run dsmlink. Or you can run it with some palm pilots.

I don't plan ever getting dsmlink. I think the safc will work just fine. But the question I was asking was will the safc allow me to vent without the bad idle. I know there's something out there that let's me not have to recirculate and I was wondering if the safc was it.

read my post again...1g vented = bad idle/ car stalling. It sounds ugly anyways with a 1g bov because I tried it already.
Get an aftermarket bov and you will be fine not recirculating. I have not seen any bad side effects from venting, especially performance lost??? WTF Maybe if you dyno the car?? but no on my butt ass dyno.

If you're venting, you are losing air out of the system that the ECU is expecting to be there. When you let off the throttle and hear that sound you love so much, the ECU has no idea that air is gone, and sets the injector duty cycle for the amount of air it was expecting. Since it's not there, you're running with too low of an air-fuel ratio (rich), and you are losing power.

I know there's something out there that let's me not have to recirculate and I was wondering if the safc was it.

You're probably thinking of a MAFT. It translates a GM MAF's signal into what your ECU reads. The GM MAF can be placed after the BOV, and then the air you're venting is not metered by the MAF. It's also is less restrictive than the stock MAS, but you have a long ways to go before you need to worry about that restriction.

I see, well I won't vent then. I knew that venting was bad, I just thought safc's let met vent without having that problem. Anyways, does anybody know how much hp a stock clutch can handle? Once again, thanks for all the help!
