Is my boost gauge working?

Ok i bought an autometer carbon fiber boost gauge and hooked it up... it reads -9psi when everything is off and when its idleing, is that normal? I figured it would be 0 at least when its off... whats wrong?

Yes at idle your vaccum/hg should read negative since your not boosting(yours could be a little lower). but when off it should read zero.(mine does)

another way to find out is to go drive your car.

Your gauge is f'd. It should be perfectly in the middle of the 0 on your gauge when the car is off. I got a new gauge from summit that was almost 1in/hg when i bought it and i took it right back. It should be obvious that it doesn't work when it reads the same with the car off and the car on. Go to whoever you bought it from and kick them in the nuts and get another gauge.

It should read negative during idle because of the vaccuum. Does it still read boost alright? I would try disconnecting it and blowing in it to see if you cant make it go to 0, or else it just gets stuck there

If it doesn't sit at 0 when the car is off I would take it back.
