when i floor my 2g gst, you hear the turbo spool up and then at a certain point, a loud shrieking whine comes out. i have the t25 still and i've never heard it like this. it sounds about 2-3 times louder than normal. also, my hks bov flutters, instead of actually making the nice loud attractive noise as usual, every time i get off the gas. i checked the vac line to the bov and it looks good, all the lines looked good. so what could be the problem????

:notgood: this sucks :notgood:

NOOO!!!! WTF!!!?!?!!!

have you checked shaft play? Looks like that tiny t-25 wheel is hitting the housing

the stock t25 has 150k miles on it, so i wouldn't be surprised. do to the shaft play, would that also be why my bov is fluttering all the time??? thanks

ps. is it safe to drive the car as long as i don't really boost it?

now this really sucks :notgood: :notgood:

before we jump to conclusions pull the intake and check the shaft play

could be 2 things

boost leak

blown turbo

now take the intake off and check the turbo for shaft play. its prolly done if its a t25 at 150k. if not, do a boost leak test. youll be amazed what you find.

and if the t25 is dead, just more a reason to upgrade to a 14b or better.

the t25 has a little up and down and some quite noticeable back and forth (not to be confused with side to side) shaft play. i don't really know how much is the limit, but what i do know is that the whine that it makes at about mid-boost scared the sh*t out of me. i haven't driven yet since last night. but when i do, i'll post anything else that i notice while driving.

well i found out what the problem was. the awesome t25 was blowing oil into my intercooler pipes and ended up basically lubricating the connections and would slightly blow them off under mid+ boost. it had also stalled and would not start and had to be towed to the mitsu dealership. so i'm hoping that it is just the turbo, cuz the evo3 16g is going to take it's place. although i don't have any fuel mods, so i'll keep the boost at 8-10 psi. plus i still 2000 miles to go to break in my new motor :thumb: . unfortuneately with the car having to be worked on every other day. i dont know when that 2500 miles will be up  . but for some reason i deal with it and somehow find the love for this car :)

Sounds like it's the other way around, compressor surge killing the T25. I strongly suggest that you look into why the BOV is fluttering before you slap on the new turbo.

Well if there is a considerable amount of front to back shaft play then there is your answer as to why oil is ending up in your intercooler pipes. I would say at best your turbo is blown and from what is sounds like the wheel is hitting the comp housing. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR trust me my friends comp wheel fell of the impeller shaft and was completely anihilated when it hit the comp housing sending shards of metal through his entire intercooler setup and engine. Also you only need 1k miles to break in a motor(don't use synthetic oil) and I am a big fan of the hard break in but however you want to do it.

i should clear it all up with the blow off valve situation. i was wrong with what i wrote. the hks lets off the full squeal sound after flooring it. it's just when daily driving, it seemed to flutter a bit more than it should
