Well this is a long story but i'll try to make it quick  My car has been down since x-mas, rebuilt the motor, installed new ported big 16g, and just got it running 2 days ago. My brother takes it out for a drive yesterday and blew an oil line off ( the one from aftermarket gauge to oil cooler), the car died and he called me from the side of the road. I repaired the oil line and added oil and drove off. Engine was fine (given the circumstances THANK GOD) but no boost. Pulled the intake pipe off and the turbine wheel is not spinning freely. I can walk it around by hand (one pretty tight spot).

I was wondering if I could still drive the car until I can get this repaired? I have borrowed a friend's car for 4 months. I'm afraid there could be busted up parts sucked in to my motor from the turbo possibly.

Has anyone ever continued to drive with a junk turbo?

P.S. I drive 90 mi. to work round trip. :toobad:

Should be fine, you just won't get boost. You might be running a little rich too.

Yeah I can tell I am runnin a lil rich. I guess from the lack of air from the turbo? Is there any way to temporarily fix that or just go with it? BTW I am running 550 cc inj. and walbro fuel pump.

THX!

I don't know If I would drive my car after the turbo blew again. My turbo took a dump on me and I drove it for 2days when I went to change the turbo out I had atleast 2 quarts of oil in the lower intercooler pipe and the intercooler. check your pipes for oil and double check your actual oil level.

your correct. i knew the seals were also shot along with spun compressor wheel, so i kept an eye on the oil level several times a day while running. and yes, there was quite a bit of oil in the lower pipe. sometimes you have to do what you have to do...o well, new 16g project going on as we speak.
