intercooler repair?

I am looking into buying an intercooler for very cheap, because it has a small hole in the front of it. Can this be easily repaired? Would jb weld fix it, or is it something that would need welded? Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

i'd bet money that jb weld probably would hold, but i sure as heck wouldn't recommend it. I'd say your best bet, is take it to a radiator shop and have them braze it up for ya.

thanks for the information. I'm still debating if I want to buy this or not. But it doesn't sound like it'll be to expensive of a repair, so I may pick it up.

Believe it or not Garrett cores frequently come from the factory leaking like mad. We used to weld them up before sendind them out. As this message implies we quit selling them.

Anyway, a good weld job should do it for around $34-$50.00.

I had a leak on my small greddy a while back and I took it to a local radiator shop. They welded it up for $35.

An FMIC is basically a radiator so I would go to them and have it fixed right than do a temporary JB Weld fix on it - esp. if you plan to run 20+ psi of boost through it. Goodluck.
