The more I mod my car, the slower it feels.

I got my 99 GSX about 2 years ago. I had a Hahn Big 16g on it, Greedy intercooler piping, Type S BOV, and a Thermal 3" exhaust. I turned up the boost to about 13-14 psi, and it felt pretty fast. The only problem it had was the turbo needed a rebuild, and boost came in really late. I then added a Walbro 255, AFC, and Greddy big front mount IC. It felt a bit faster. I finally added a Hahn o2 and 3" downpipe. It actually felt slower than with the stock downpipe. Last week, I added a SBR Evo 3 16g, and the car feels about the same, although boost comes in when its supposed to near 3000 rpms. I really was hoping the car would feel much better with a turbo that is actually working properly. Whats going on? I need to get the AFC retuned with the new turbo and EVO 560cc injectors(not in yet), and hope it makes a difference. What do you guys think?

Check for boost leaks= Hp killer. Also, tuning it will help alot. Do you have a afpr?

Also, i reread your post, you stock sidemount is probably working. But if you go run after run it will heatsoak and seem slower.

you apparently didn't read it completely, he has a fmic ;)
in addition to what was already mentioned, check out the ignition stuff. mainly plugs and wires, the simplest things make the biggest differences

She :D I guess I am just disapointed that it doesnt feels as strong as I thought it would going from a messed up turbo to a bigger new one. It is getting retuned tomorrow, I am installing new plugs, and I plan on hitting the track this Saturday. Hopefully I will get into the 12's.

well, realize that you are trading TQ for HP, TQ is felt, HP isn't...

our cars never "feel" as fast as a high torq car, but when you go flying past people, you realize they are :thumb:

What about that afpr? A big FMIC and piping will kill your spool up time a little and you probably won't feel the full effect of it until you upgrade the injectors and turn up the boost.

Hope you have an EGT or a wideband O2... that 16 is going to be pushing a lot of air, and you may be running lean with the stock injectors.

Or alternately, extra-rich, given that I didn't see an AFPR in your mod list... the AFC tune will likely give it quite a bit more of a kick than it has now... after all, it's still tuned for a dodgy turbo.
