GM maf before or after air/water IC

I am running a stock sidemount made into a air/water intercooler that runs directly into the throttle body (battery in trunk). There is very little room between it and the throttle body, If i go with a Maf and translator, does it have to be after the intercooler on a blow-through set up, or can it be right before the intercooler where i have room for it? It can be wherever in the intake tract you like.
