I'm thinking about installing an MSD DIS-2 ignition system on my 95 Talon AWD. I'm having trouble finding any performance data on after installing one of these. Does anyone know about the benefits of these things?

Thanks for the info, you just saved me $300 to put into my new exhaust system.

Let me make a couple comments about the MSD. First off, it is a great product and easy to install. It only took me about 1 hour. Here are the benefits.

2 step rev limiter for launching (can be wired in for shifting with foot still on the gas)

You can increase your plug gap which gives you more power with big boost (wont blow out the spark)

The stock ignition system will handle 400+ hp but the MSD is a nice to have if you have money laying around. You can sometimes pick them up for like 175 bucks. I liked it becuase I can build boost on the line and get perfect launches every time. I would still get the exhaust first but keep in mind it does have its benefits.

Yes also upgraded ignitions have been known to smooth out your idle which is always a plus on a DSM. :D

kilurv8 - Could you tell me where you can pick up a MSD dis-2 for $175?
If I could find one that cheap I'd consider getting one, especially for the stutter box. Thanks.

I picked it up used from a guy in TX who had it on his car for 1 day for dyno testing. He decided to go with individual coils which wouldn't work with the MSD DIS 2. If you just keep your eyes out, you will find them for like 200 bucks every once and a while.
