Toronto,
I just finished installing my Paxton fuel pressure regulator and I'm having difficulties getting the right reading on the gauge.

I am trying to attain 42 psi but the needle is vibrating violently that it reads between 30-50 psi. This is with or without the vac hose attached.

How do you set the correct psi with a gauge that behaves irratically? BTW, it's a B&M gauge.

When I shut off the car the gauge shows 40 psi.

I don't understand what you're trying to set up -I don't know that fuel pressure will shake a gauge, if you're tapped into the regulated side- but put an orifice in the sensing line if it's mechanical.

Originally, I had the B&M gauge mounted on the banjo bolt on top of the stock fuel filter. I upgraded the fuel line upstream to the rail, so I relocated the gauge on top of the fuel rail by tapping 1/8 NPT and threaded the gauge on.

Upgrading the fuel line with -6AN SS line increased my fuel pressure from 42psi to over 50psi. This overran my B&M Command flo which I had to upgrade to Paxton.

Regardless of where I mount the gauge on, gauge needle just won't go steady to get a good reading.

You still want to get rid of the b&m gauge. I dont know what they were thinking but a non liquid filled gauge doesnt belong under the hood of a car.

Summit has liquid filled 0-100 white faced gauges for 17.99. You can get a really nice autometer for 35.

Or if you have a grainger in your area they have some for under 10 dollars.
