afc questions

alright obviously my questions wasnt detailed enough sorry a buddy of mine posted it ...i hooked up the s afc on my 95 exactly to the directions on vfaq.com for a 95 and up...now someone told me that since i have an early 95 its a little different...could this be true....the power on the unit doesnt turn on but i jsut hooked it up of the cigeratee lighter power and ground and it worked fine which i dont understand...and help would be greatly aprreciated

Does it work fine or does it just turn on? There is a difference...
If you hooled all yoru wires up according to VFAQ then the power shoudl work. If you hooked up every single wire incorrectly (which a lot of people do, even though they think they did it right...) then hooked up the power and ground it will still turn on and look as if its functioning properly.

Hint: Make sure that you are looking at the ecu connector the correct way so you do not get the wires messed up/switched around. Test the wires with the voltmeter to see WTF is going on (12+ volts for power, 4.8+ volts for TPS...etc) Good luck!

Did you hook up the grounds correctly, with one further from the ECU than the other?

It sounds like either the +12v or the ground you used on the ECU wasn't what it was supposed to be. Time to start poking around with a multimeter.
