Ok so i installed my new greddy egt gauge and got everything wired up right (so i believe) but my car reads 600*C at idle and at cruise it goes to 1200 and tops out easily. This is not under WOT or anywhere close to it. my trims are set so that they would be a little rich (11.0 a/f across the board) but that shouldn't matter because it should be in open loop. I dont understand why it is doing this. The probe is tapped into the uprising on the manifold in runner #4 next to where the hole for the bolt to hold the heat sheild down is. Anyone know any possible reasons/solutions?

Runner #4?? I hope you are talking about runner #1 which is the one closest to the driver's side. As for you temps at idle, 600C is obviously not right, but I don't see how the probe would not be working properly. Do the temps stay constant? You might want to check to make sure you have done your wiring correctly, especially the ground.

i have it wired into my ingnition relay for the 12v on and ign 1 wires. Then i have the other 2 tapped into the parking light wire on my cig lighter, and the ground that's there as well. OR do you think i should ground it to my frame?

I used to idle at 600c after coming to a stop, and it would fall to 500c. So that doesnt sound too bad. But the 1200 is odd. I used the same ground as you did. Might have to try another probe. Also, how do you know its "setup" for 11:1? Wideband? Dsmlink? Just curious. What is your timing at cruise?

How is the thermocouple hooked up?The wire coming from the thermocouple is made from the thermocouple material and where it connects to copper or any other conductor that connection becomes another thermocouple itself. So if connected in the wrong place, it would cause wierd readings

The Greddy probe is fully sealed, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Make sure that neither of the probe wires are grounded *anywhere*.

Make sure that the gauge's ground is properly connected to chassis ground.

Make sure that there's no crap in the connector between the probe wiring and the wiring to the gauge; put some dielectric grease in there to keep water out.
