blaha mass air sensor question

When I got my 92 gsx, it had a blaha mas. Do they tend to create absolutly junky gas mileage(140-160/tank) and cause the car to run pig rich? The blaha that I have has a metal flapper below the large honeycomb. Also, would an afc help correct things? I would rather not have it (the blaha), but until then, I may as well try to correct the problem. Any help I can get on this would be great! Thanks.

It should not. Blaha MAF's are more likely to cause you to run lean than rich.

What does the car have for fuel injectors?

A SAFC will probably help, but not necessarily since you do not know what the problem is.

Do you have a logger? Fuel trims would help here.

everything fuel is stock except for a 190 fuel pump. this is why im a bit puzzled.

As long as you are SURE that the car doesn't have bigger injectors, than that eliminates one possibility.

I would replace the O2 sensor with a brand new Mitsu one, it's something you should always do when you buy a car anyway.

I would also highly suggest you get a logger, because that will be a big help with diagnosing this problem, and any problems you may have in the future.

The Blaha MAS sucks. That spring flapper thingy is a complete joke! Get a translator, 2G or if youbasolutely want ot keeep the 1G sensor, I can give you tips to make it 100x better than a Blaha.

i agree on the blaha mas sucking, but its what i have until i can get something better. i will try to pick up a new o2 from mitsu and see what happens. which is a better choice, the laptop datalogger or the pocketlogger? thanks guys!

Really, how is the spring flapper a joke? Is it because it actually allows you to idle without an AFC? I'm a little lost. As for performance, the MAS works just as good as my 3.5" GM MAF with the translator without price...

Ummm...yeah. A Blaha MAS flows more than a 2g and with an AFC you don't need the "spring flapper thingy". Please stop talking out of your asses.
