need a little AFC help

when I accelerate my car is pulling real good until I hit 18PSI then It sputters or gets fuel cut or something. I have a big 16g port/clipped, front mount, walboro 255 and 550's.My mbc is set at 20psi. So basically I have to lean out the fuel correct?I just wanted to know if for example my setting at 5k is -22% would going to say -24% make it richer or leaner? I don't have a logger or egt gauge so I'm just trying to get a rough tune for now and obviously I'm new to the afc. Thanks
 
If you went to negative -24 you would be leaner. Just a word of advice, don't mess with it until you get a logger. I have a logger and it's still a challenge to get everything right. Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with the warlboro? If not then that will really mess with your settings too.

Dude, not to be mean, but your engine is probably toast.:( First off running 20psi is quite a bit for pump gas; most people say 18psi is ideal. Second, playing with fuel control is a VERY touchy subject; if you do it wrong, you can easily do damage to your engine. So a person should only start changing fuel control once they have the understanding of what's going on, AND they have the proper tools to tune with.

No offense, but I don't get that impression from you (that you know how to tune). That's O.K, we all didn't know at some point. But I read up on the subject for months before I even touched the fuel system of my car. So if you don't know which way is leaner or richer on the safc is; do you really think you know what your doing, or which way to go either leaner or richer, and by how much?

And then to do any type of fuel tuning without any feedback devices to tell you how your car is doing. An EGT at a bare minimum; and a pocketlogger is a must to see timing advance, and if it gets pulled due to engine knock.

So in my opinion/recommendation, don't boost on your car until you get the proper tools. Hell, I would say put the stock injectors back in, put the safc corrections to "0", order and install and egt and a pocketlogger, and read about tuning for a month. Good luck...:(
 
the afc settings that I am currently using are off road race engineerings web site. I haven't really gotten on the car. This is the first car that I am building so everything that I do is new to me especially tuning. I'm trying to figure out whats required with a logger so feel free to throw some suggestions my way. Thanks
 
It seems to me that -22% is pretty lean to begin with, with only 550's.

Turn the SAFC up to like -15% and see what happens.

In order to be rich enough to make the motor sputter, you have to be REALLY rich, a lot richer than you would be with 550's at -22%.

However, the other guys are right. You should not mess around with the SAFC until you have a logger.
