E6k is what most people use. There are three or four cars in central iowa that run a E6k haltech.

Just out of curiosity do you know if they have a laptop they take with them or if they have a long usb they connect to their desktop?

I have E6S in my car. I'm still trying to have it tuned and trying to fix my low vacuum at idle problem. It works pretty good but the installation wasn't done professionally and that's the biggest problem I have. Wiring mess. Oh, if you know who Wrightouch is, stay away from them. Bad news.

Yes, you would wanna have a laptop unless you are gonna put your car on dyno and only tune it on dyno, meaning you are not driving it on the road. I've been tuning mine on the road so laptop became necessary. Honestly, it's kinda hassle. Yes, you have a total control over things but it could be too much control. Then again, if you know exactly what kind of numbers to expect at different air temp., coolant temp., atm. pressure, and etc you are good to go.

I'm new to Haltech myself and trying to figure things out as well. Try Haltech DSM Yahoo. I personally got some good tips and at the same time I didn't get enough help.

I am using the Haltech E6K and fine it actually pretty easy to use. The installation wasn't to bad, but nothing for a newbie. Don't just jump into a stand alone if you haven't got a real good idea of how to tune your car. You will need a lot of time on the dyno and a wide band 02 to see what your a/f ratio is.
