Hi- this is what i got
91 awd eclipse
16g
balance shafts removed, web cams, je pistons (9.5-1),550cc injectors,2g maf,
all the piping is aftermarket.bigger fuel pump,
question is-
the car's timing was off 2 teeth(belt).i had that replaced and now i need to redo the maps on the afc. i dont even know where to start.i just bought this car,so its all new,im a converted v-8 guy..LOL
what way is rich/lean? low is +12,then+10 across the board, at 35% throttle. 80% is like +10 across the board..does this sound right?it idles rich,so with oversized injectors, shouldnt it be like 0 or -5 at 1k on the afc?i have technomotive datalogger program, and at wot its pulling no knock, .92 onthe o2's. and 850c egt..does this sound close? i do show knock when i let off the throttle though. can someone tell me the basics of using the afc?instructions on the website didnt help much. what way is rich/lean? etc... thanks in advance
Dave:cry:

Rich is up in the + Lean is down in the negative.
For now, don't mess with it. The AFC will hold it's settings if the power is disconected, so you can work on the car without loosing the settings.

Those settings seem about right for the 2G MAS and 550 injectors. Maybe just a little rich, but there may be other stuff done to the car, so don't worry about it until you read, study, and memorize this; www.vfaq.com/TMO

Thanks!
that helped alot, but im curious as to why you would want to show + on the low throttle position with larger injectors?wouldnt you want to lean it out (-) since they are so much bigger? wow, i cant believe how hard some of this is. the learning curve is fat.LOL
does everyone else have the idle screw turned out far too? it holds a lumpy idle with the cams around 1100, but wants to die out when i turn the headlights on. stepper motor seems to work cuz when its cold it holds the idle at 2k, then comes down , but does nothing when its warm?
thanks
Dave

It's tough at first because there is so much to take in, but once you get it tuning is much easier. I don't miss trying to rejet carbs at all.

Basically, for around town driving I like to watch the O2 trims and try to keep them around 95 to 110%. For WOT tuning watch the knock and timing. Keep knock below 5 to be safe.

My low fuel trim is at 134%, and no matter how much i richen it up or how long i wait it doesnt come down on my tmo logger...what gives? is five minutes not long enough to wait? i richend it up so much the o2 trim was at 60% and that still didnt move the low speed trim down...i dont get it,,,am i missing something?

The car has to be warmed up and holding a steady rpm and throttle setting for the trims to change. If that doesn't help, there may be something else wrong. Low trims are for idle speed and very slow driving. Mid trim is for around town driving, like 15 to 45 MPH. Hi trim is for freeway speeds up to about 80 MPH. Above that use the hi throttle settings on the AFC.
