Guys -
I've searched around a bit, but have not seen a direct comparison of TunerStein vs. Pocketlogger logging software.
Anybody used both?
Which offers the best 'bang-for-the-buck' for moderate mods on a daily driver?
I'll be using a Palm Pilot & I think I've found a pretty nice cable: http://www3.sympatico.ca/bios2k/B2Klogger.html

I have the pocketlogger and I love it. I havent used the stein software. Although I still need to do some reading up on what all I need to be looking at exactly. If anybody has any links or info on the readings of the pocketlogger, like what numbers are supposed to be what and so on, I would appreciate it.

I would get the tunerstien software first (as it is free) and buy the pocketlogger software if you don't like it. On that link you supplied, they are using tunerstien software. They show pretty much every feature of the tunerstien software. I use TMO for my laptop but have tunerstien on my palm. TMO has more features but costs a lot verses the free tunerstien. TMO software works great but I haven't got my palm to work in my car yet. The tunerstien software seems to be more basic. My cable is more or less made for a laptop with a female serial connector on the end. I got a adapter to fit it to the palm cradle but cannot get it to connect correctly or exit test mode. I am not worried as I am very satisfied with the laptop results. Just my opinion.

i am almost sure it does...but they may also be using the ppt obd cable too...

I've got them both but haven't tried the stien yet> I have walked through the software a bit though and I would say pocket logger is much more user friendly.

what you need to get yourpalm working is a null modem adapter or switch pins 2&3

I have a pocketlogger and I love it!!! It's very user friendly and has great features. I haven't had any experience with stein, so I cannot comment on it. I do have version 2.0, but I don't think that mike is offering an unregistered version, since you have to re-register to get it. It's also worth noting that with the pocketlogger you get great customer support as well. Mike busts his ass to help his customers and offers great updates as well as runs a message board specifically for the pocketlogger. Even though the tunerstein is free you're still going to have to pay for the cable. I'd probably still choose the pocketlogger if I was going to start over.

I haven't noticed any major sampling differences between version 1.0 and 2.0 of the pocketlogger, but there are some cool features that makes it worth upgrading. Plus, the upgrade is free (unless you care to donate to Mike for his hard work), you just have to go through the registration process again. They list all of the new features on the website, such as a triggered alarm for a set parameter and a big numbers screen when logging 4 parameters or less.

I can't get that tunerstein software to work on my laptop to save my life. I downloaded it and installed it right, and I think it logs, and I save the log.......then, when I go to the player and attempt to play a saved log the computer frrezes up completely. any help?
