ECMlink Help! DSMLink v3 not saving

I need some wiseman expertise.

My problem arises when I start the car. With the key on, DSMLink connects fine and I'm able to save the tabs to the ECU (even get the confirmation at the bottom of the screen). When I fire the car up, if I try to start a log, the ECMLink program freezes. I can't do anything without restarting the program.

Now, if I start the car first and then connect, everything is fine and I'm able to log and save changes to the ECU (got confirmation dialog). After the car is shut off for a little, then turned back on, most of the ECU tabs have reverted back to stock values (ie. rpm/tps, fuel, idle air). I've tried checking the ECU comm box in misc tab, but to no avail.

I'm getting quite frustrated . I have searched and read many posts, but none have the problem I'm having. I've tried contacting ECMTuning to establish an account but they haven't responded yet.

Any kind of help is appreciated. I'm to the point where I'm willing to pay$ a wiseman in the area to help troubleshoot. Thanks.

Have you tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling the stable version and then the early access version?

Are you sure your firmware is up to date?

Are you sure when you're making changes that you're saving them to the ECU?

I have not tried uninstalling the program yet. I thought since everything connected ok , it wasn't the program. Firmware is 3.19.49. I'm positive its saving at the point where the vehicle is running, dsmlink is connected and i can log, as i can hear changes in rpm/idle when changing the fuel tab. Maybe i will try reinstalling the program. I use Vista OS. Where would i find those other versions you speak of?

Well, i installed the stable version and early access like you said. It hasn't fixed my problem. If i start the car and get everything dialed in and save, then turn the car off and back on again, my settings are still there. When starting the car after it has been sitting for 10 to 15 minutes, all of my settings are erased and the tabs are back to stock(like when i first started the program). I know i'm saving properly. Any ideas?

Test all the battery+ wires that lead to the ECU.

EDIT: Test pin 103 at the ECU. It's in the small ten pin plug nearest the door. Middle wire on the latch side of the plug.

The save to NVRAM occurs when the MFI relay cycles.

No MFI relay activity, no save.

WOOT! I finally got things ironed out, and link is working correctly. A Big THANK YOU to Hal and Colt4g63also for pointing me in the right direction to fixing my problem. Long story short, i had a tuner shop wire the harnesses to first get it running, only to find out that they did a poor job of wiring. What a mess! First, i found the MPI relay wasn't even close to being correct. Shout out to Steve for his wonderful tech article on MPI relay function and wiring. Then, i checked ecu pinouts and found even more problems. The ecu pinout pdf was a huge help in conquering my rats nest of wires. Thanks again to everyone who responded. Now, on to some serious tuning.....Tuners rocks!
