So I have a 95 eclipse gst when I bought the car the CEL was on due to the ECT so I went and bought a new one, when I went to put it in I noticed the previous owner had cut the wires and put a new harness on. So I installed the new ECT and a week later CEL came back on, so I swapped the wires around thinking maybe the previous owner didn't hook it up right, still no luck. So I bought another ECT and tried that one with both wire configuration and still CEL is on, than I figured what the heck and bought another ECT and still no luck. I'm getting terrible gas mileage right now and when the car is cold it starts and idles super rough for about 45 seconds. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I've searched everywhere and have no idea what to do now. Thank you for any help.

Unplugged/broken coolant temp switch would cause you to run rich. The ECU dumps fuel by default when there is no resistance going to the switch. Is any other part of the harness hacked?

It looks like the previous owner might have put a new plug on cause the wires are spliced. That's where I'm so confused is with it plugged in the car won't start because its flooding the cylinders when cranking but when I unplugged it the car fired right up and bit ran super lean to the point where it died coming to a stop light
