identifing this socket job

opened up my ecu for the first time today to find unexpected goodies, the pictures below are the socket job to my eprom, i would like to know if the ecm chip will plug into in or if i need to send it out.

Yeah, that is definitely a rather large socket. Thats a programmed EPROM chip as well. Either way your set to swap out chips.
 
That looks like a ZIF(zero insertion force)socket to me.

To remove the chip just pull up on the metal latch and the chip will come out with little to no effort.

Yea thats one of the nicer zif sockets. Has the chip been reflashed? You might have a pre-set tune on her already.

As far as removing it, yea really easy. Slide the lever over on the socket to "unlock" the chip. Then gently pull it straight up and out.
 
That is like a zif extension socket. It looks to have a normal 28 pin socket under it and the zif socket pins pushed into the normal socket. There is a little arm that flips up to release the chip. To install ecmlink it would probably be a good idea to slide the zif socket from the other socket and install it in the lower socket.
