There's a kid near me selling link v2.5 for 100 bucks it comes with everything except the cable.. He said a v3 cable would work if I ought one off ecmlinks site? Would the workout ok for me? It comes with the cd..chip and socket..and it's for a 1g

The only other thing I'm confused on is how would I know what maf the kit is for?
Thanks guys! Im at work and really have no way to fid out before I drive to buy it

Ecmtuning the site will have just about any amount of information for you to view. 100 bucks sure cheaper than v3 lite.

It is worthless without the cable. They will not sell you just the cable so you won't be able to use it for anything.

That cable only works with v3, it will not work the earlier versions. The reason being is that v1 and v2 are just an eprom chip with certain settings on it. If you were able to buy a 45 dollar cable than you could buy a 5 dollar chip, copy the original chip and sell it as a legit copy. With the earlier versions the cable is the main part of the system. With v3 there is an actual daughter board that the chip is attached to which can't be copied. Without the proper cable it is just a 5 dollar chip and nothing more.
