Evo 8 & 9 Cooling fans

Has anyone bolted evo fans to a 2g dsm. I know they have that controller, but you can remove it and hardwire. I figured they would flow more air than oem dsm ones so I wanted to give it a shot. They also look somewhat thinner, especially the A/C one. I do not have my stocks fans around and slim fans suck. The temps are too high for my liking. So I am thinking about giving it a shot. If anyone has any insight on using other oem fans like chevy or something different let me know. I will give it a shot. Thanks.

If the temps are too high for your liking a bigger fan is a band-aid fix.

Well I have been working with Turboglenn through pm, but I took out the thermostat to see if the water pump is working. It is so I took it for a drive and on the highway I am seeing 210F and about 219F coming to a stop light, so I am thinking these ebay slim fans are not cutting it. Plus I do not think this Gates water pump flows as well as an OEM one. The fans came with the cxracing radiator. Brand new oem cap and thermostat too.

What mix are you using?
Have you tried water wetter?

And ebay slim fans SUCK.

I got my fan from STMDSM.com and it was the same as this one
FAL Electric Fan Single 12" Dia Puller 1250 cfm Black Plastic Fits Honda Civic 088657001250 | eBay

You need a QUALITY fan; and a shroud helps out a lot too!
A little creative duct work helps a lot, so does making sure your radiator is CLEAN and free of debris.
Even a hole in the front of your bumper will go a long way!

Also depends on the fans you have. Fans come configured for either a push or pull but if you want to make them do the opposite you switch the blades around AND reverse the polarity.

Hope some of this helps.

I was just thinking of doing this. The evo 8, 9 fans are variable speed. But I plan on switching to Evo 8 ECU... maybe the variable fan speed could work.

I was just going to wire it so it would run on high all the time plus an evo fan is 1/3 of the price of a quality slim fan and moves more air, can't go wrong.
