My car came with a 1995 ECU which is about to be socketed (by myself with a good quality ZIF socket). Naturally, I'm a DIY'er as far as anything goes, building an engine, welding, wiring, painting - etc...this goes as far as including knowledge of tuning, what makes power what doesn't. So I looked into the cheapest way to tune the car without spending a boat load of money on per say DSMLink or a 98/99/Evo8 ECU & cable and it came out to be a zif socket, a good quality chip and burner for around 50$. Using TunerPro & Ceddy's bin/xdf can definitely set you straight as far as a base//accurate tune goes, which is perfectly acceptable for a DD or street car - but what if you want more?

I browsed around the dsm-ecu yahoo group for a few hours, reading random things here and there. It seems like anything concerning the 2g is very taboo? Like no one wants to talk about it or what they know...why is that? I'm computer smart, I do it for living next to car work and have more than enough motivation to learn coding/testing etc...but it just seems like there is very little help when it comes to the 2g? I'm just curious why this is?

Everything I put on that site for 1G DSM's can easily be applied to the 2G code, if one has even the slightest initiative. All you need to do is ask the right questions if you need help. I don't bother answering questions like "can someone just give/write me the code to add a knock gauge", etc.

That's what I was figuring, and I noticed that a lot too. People wander on there asking 'XDF file for 2 step!!!11' and get nowhere.
