choosing between no knock or good afr..advice?

Boost is at 18 dropping to 16 by 6500rpm,stock rewired pump,afc neo,evo 560's. I got the knock under control but now im at a quite rich 10.0 afr. What do you guys think, will i be alright to shoot for a better afr and live with some knock? Or am i just out of fuel with the stock pump. One thing to note is the duty cycle is incorrect here for some reason, on the logger it shows the highest to be 84%.

You don't need worry about 1 or 2 KnockCounts popping up once in a while.

At 3 Counts, one degree of timing will be pulled, if you had control of your timing map you would lower timing one degree there.


Since you don't have any control over timing, you can only drown the knock out with fuel or lower boost.


Those spurts of 30 KnockCounts are worrysome. If its real knock, thats high enough to damage something. If its false knock, its still reeking havoc on your Octane value.
 
Im thinking its false knock being it pops up randomly at cruise/part throttle. What do you mean by octane value?

Octane Level, is a trim based on knock. The ecu uses it to decide which set of maps to used, The High Octane Timing and Fuel maps or Low Octane maps.

Low Octane maps have less timing and are richer.

It is though that Mitsu added the Octane Trim in case you get a bad tank of gas. Knock over a period of time will reduce the Octane trim, no knock will increase it.

Ok i follow ya thanks for the info. So basicaly im stuck with what i got until i decide on a tuning option that allows me to play with a timing table?
 
Check the base timing. If the base is at 10+* it could cause real knock at all rpm/load values. If you are seeing knock and running on a low octane map and still seeing knock while running anywhere close to 10.xxafr then my guess is way too much timing. (unless the engine is overheating)

No the engine temps are good, but now that you mention the base timing i dont ever remember checking it on this car. That might be my problem. Thanks for bringing that up.

Well checked the base timing and its dead on at 5 degrees. Looks like ill just have to live with what i got huh.
