Today i just picked up a 91 AT talon TSI AWD. It was a mess lots of stuff unbolted and just laying around. Anyways i got it all together it ran good for a minute or so then it started idling ruff. So i looked for some usual signs of these symptoms. That is when i decided to change the ecu(the guy i bought it from changed it thinking it was the cause for ruff idle). I had brought one just in case when i disconnected the one in the car it looked a bit different then mine. It faces a different way and one of the plugs are different(smaller). So my question is i thought the 1ga and 1gb's shared the same ECU's. I know some 1ga's came with eprom ecu's, which this one is. Can i use a 1gb manual ecu in my 1ga auto? And if so do i need to use a 1gb ecu harness? Do i need to get a 1ga ecu again? Or is it because its an auto?
Thanks for any advice Diego

BTW i searched for a while before even considering posting. I just couldn't find any straight answers.

Thanks let me know what u guys think.

The ecu you pulled out is in fact the TCU that controls the transmission. Look under the stereo a bit further and the ecu is there.
