HELP!!! I have a 95 Eagle Talon TSI AWD with an engine out of a 97 donor. I'll be doing the timing belt later today, and need to know how to set timing without the lower cover. I know some of the 6 bolt guys and girls have done this successfully. I'm assuming #1 and #4 at TDC. The reason I'm asking, is that I broke the lower cover last night getting the harmonic balancer off. :ohdamn: Lovely Right?? Didn't think so. Also how much of a pain is it to time the balance shafts with the engine?? I can't afford to remove them yet. Thanks for all the help everybody.
 
The hydro tensioner gave up and it jumped 2 or 3 teeth. I have a new bs belt, a new timing belt, and a new hydro tensioner. Like I said before, I broke the lower and middle cover. Just looking to get the car timed and running tonight or tomorrow. The crank was rotating when I was taking the harmonic off. Rotating the engine back into #1 and #4 at TDC is no problem. Neither is the cams. The question is in what position would I need the balance shaft. The engine should be in time when in the above stated position right?? I also have the timing belt tool kit from jay racing. Thanks again.
 
All of your alignment marks are behind the timing cover. That is just for ignition timing which you can't adjust. Just read this page.

Do you even know HOW to do a proper timing belt job? or whats involved for that matter?

Can we at least play nice?? I'm learning on the timing belt job. Cut me some slack.
